My partner and I visited here separately over the past few months. We were both over charged for food by the owner on separate occasions. I witnessed the owner direct an employee to overcharge me as the employee rang my order up on the till. Although I had been drinking and the shop was busy I was still aware of what was happening. My partner explained to me that he was overcharged a lot and had to correct the owner before making payment. I think the owner assumed we would be too drunk to notice this.

Last night we visited together and were correctly charged on this occasion. Perhaps because we hadn’t been drinking. As we were in the shop a gentleman entered and stated to the owner that he is a care worker for a mentally disabled client who had just been in and was charged £27 for a portion of doner meat. The owner was clearly shaken from being called out but did not deny charging a disabled man £27 for doner meat. The owner simply told the carer to call the police and thereafter refused to speak to him. I will also add that the carer spoke to the owner with courtesy and respect but the owner didn’t want to listen to what he had to say. I don’t think it was a coincidence that we witnessed this following my partner and I both being over charged previously.

I can only advise people to avoid this business but if you are inclined to visit then get a receipt with your food and be aware of the price and what you are...

For the first few years i was in Edinburgh if you asked me where Cafe Piccante was I wouldn't have had a clue where it was. Disco Chppy on the other hand was the crazy chippy with the DJ and various deep fried types of confectionery.

I went here on new years day this year. very good quality fish and chips followed up by my first experience of the deep fried mars bar with ice cream. I have to admit i was sceptical of the idea but figured it was something I had to try atleast once and I have to say i was pleasantly surprised.

The staff were freindly and in good spirits for near as damn it midninght on January 1st.

As well as the usual club posters and flyers the walls are covered with pictures of groups of customers visiting as part of their nights out which seemed to give the place a good vibe and made me...

Café Piccante on Broughton Street, Edinburgh, serves up a stellar fish and chips that's a true Scottish delight. This late-night eatery excels in freshly prepared food, and their fish and chips is no exception. The fish is encased in a perfectly crisp, golden batter that gives way to succulent, flaky white meat inside. Paired with thick-cut chips that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, it's a match made in culinary heaven. A splash of malt vinegar and a sprinkle of salt elevate the flavors to new heights. The friendly staff and lively atmosphere add to the experience, making Café Piccante the ideal spot for a satisfying meal any time of day or night. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this classic dish at Café Piccante is a must-try that captures the essence of traditional...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Café Piccante in Edinburgh, and I must say it was a delightful experience! The crispy, golden fish was cooked to perfection, and the chips were simply irresistible. What truly stole the show, though, was the deep-fried Mars bar. As my mum had enthusiastically recommended, this unique treat is an absolute must-try. The indulgent combination of the warm, gooey Mars bar encased in a crispy batter was a revelation. It's a sweet symphony that adds a whole new dimension to the traditional fish and chips experience. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make this place a hidden gem in Edinburgh's culinary scene. Whether you're a local or a visitor, do yourself a favor and indulge in this delectable fusion of flavors. Your taste buds will thank you!

Piccante offers a delightful dining experience with its inviting seating area featuring comfortable benches and a pleasant ambiance enhanced by well-chosen music played at an ideal volume. The staff are friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. The menu boasts a wide variety of condiments to suit every taste. The prices are reasonable, though not the lowest around, reflecting the quality of the food. The fish and chips are a standout, with the fish being tender and enveloped in a perfectly crunchy batter, while the fries are smooth and served warm. Every dish, from the fresh ingredients to the generous toppings on the kebab and the flavorful pizza, reflects the restaurant’s commitment to quality and freshness.

Absolutely loved this place. My 2 friends and I travelled from London and we really wanted to try the famous fried Mars bar, we also wanted fish and chips so we asked our Uber driver where the best place to go and he recommended this place. We was served by Sal who was very welcoming and gave us a lil history about his store. The fish and chips was absolutely lovely!!!... But the fried Mars bar and Snickers was the highlight for me. I really wasn't expecting it to taste so nice!!! Patiently waiting for a franchise in London! Thanks again!
