I’ve lived in Edinburgh for over twenty years. Yesterday my cousin arrived from China and we wanted to take him somewhere for a good Chinese meal. After a lot of thinking (and a bit of googling), we still couldn’t decide. A friend of mine recommended this place and honestly, I owe her one.
There were seven of us, and the bill came to just over £100. We were genuinely impressed. The food reminded us of the flavours back home in Jiangsu. The mao xue wang was spicy, fragrant and really satisfying. My husband ate an entire plate of the deep fried aubergine slices all by himself, and the beef chow ho fun was so big we couldn’t finish it. My daughter insisted on taking the rest home for lunch the next day.
The staff were lovely and everything came out quickly. My cousin and niece both said it tasted just like what they’d get in China. We’ll definitely be coming back. Might bring more...
Read moreI had been disappointed with sub par Chinese takeaways for several years in my area and have been yearning for good quality Chinese food. I came here on a recommendation from a friend and didn't have high hopes as I've been disappointed so many times in the past. wutong Hub was a breath of fresh air and dare I say, a revelation. My hopes in Chinese food have been well and truely restored. We ordered several dishes , around 7 or 8 and all dishes were to a very very high standard, the tastes were beautiful, different flavours and it felt as if the chef put his heart and soul into each dish. The staff were extremely polite and attentive without being overbearing. 4 people eating till the point of being bursting full and satisfied cost £115 which I thought was very reasonable. I will be visiting again very soon again, with my fiance next time....

We ordered the fish head & tofu soup and the fried noodles with king prawns, both of which were absolutely delicious. I was so happy that I told the waitress how much we enjoyed the food, and she proudly shared that their chefs are from Hong Kong and Shanghai. The fried noodles especially brought back memories of the authentic taste I’ve missed since having them in Hong Kong a long time ago.
If you’re visiting Edinburgh, don’t miss Wu Tong Hub — highly recommended for authentic...
