Quite a mixed bag here. The interior is lovely and very nicely decorated, it feels like a very stylish space. We had the arancini and mixed bruschetta to start. These were excellent, simple dishes but large portions and very flavourful with good ingredients. Unfortunately the mains very quite disappointing, especially my gnocchi alla sorrentina dish which I’ve had before elsewhere and so was really looking forward to. The sauce was claggy and to be honest I was pretty appalled that instead of being topped with molten silky fresh buffalo mozzarella it was merely scattered with some grated cheddar, or honestly it looked like the grated mozzarella you get in a bag from the supermarket, which wasn’t even properly cooked, no bubbling browned cheese, it was just anaemic and dried out. I feel like the person who made this dish has never actually had a properly made version! I’d be embarrassed to serve it at home let alone to a paying customer in an Italian restaurant. This dish should be gnocchi swimming in a pool of rich tomato sauce with lots of generous dollops of mozzarella melted into it so that you almost have to twirl the gnocchi out as they get covered in spaghetti like strands of cheese. I was going to order a garlic bread to go with it to dip into the expected sauce but I was very glad I didn’t! And for the price of £15 or £18 (can’t remember) it was really really poor. I also found the service to be lacking and it wasn’t very busy. Had to ask different staff a few times to bring a copy of the drinks menu. Had a cocktail which wasn’t great - if they’re making dirty martinis they need to get olives in...
Read moreWe visited Alfredo’s last night. Haven’t yet been since they have been under new ownership and rebranded. We were very pleasantly surprised.
We came at 7.30pm on a Friday night, it was relatively busy and we were attended to promptly. A young waiter who brought us to our table asked if we would like water for the table, I obviously said yes… However we weren’t made aware there would be a £4 charge for it, but I also could have asked, so not to worry. Our drinks order was taken quickly and as we’d already looked at the menu ahead of time we knew what we were having, so when they came back with the drinks we ordered. We went straight for mains, the Penne Genovese, garlic breads, chunky chips and a Picante Pizza. It arrived very quickly and boiling hot, we were impressed. The food was delicious and something different to what we were used to from an Italian restaurant. Their garlic bread was a little tough in the middle & the pasta sauce seemed to have some creaminess in there even though it was it wasn’t listed on the menu (with me trying to stick to a calorie deficit that’s probably just me nit picking) but it wasn’t enough to put us off our meal as it was delectable. We also had the tiramisu to share for dessert.
Their drinks menu is vast and I was suprised to see they had Dirty Martinis and Picantes (spicy margaritas) as cocktails, which are made to perfection, as they are my favourite and I can never usually find them in establishments.
We would recommend this restaurant for any type of occasion you have planned. The interior is lovely and the staff are very attentive and polite....
Read moreAttended the newly refurbished Alfredo on Saturday which has been done to a really nice standard, however the food and service was poor.
We got asked for drinks quickly and said we needed 5 minutes to choose food. No one came back for 25 minutes and we had to go up and ask. Our starters were also not removed before our mains arrived and staff were wearing different uniforms from other companies Alfredo own. Although the staff all looked very young they were polite and welcoming. The bar manager for the night (I think) had an uncomfortable situation at the bar and managed this very professionally.
The starters were nice and enjoyable to eat. However, the mains were really poor. I had the seafood pasta which had three prawns and three mussels. There was no flavour in the pasta, poor presentation and the sauce was very watery and oily. My friends arrabbiata wasn’t spicy at all, looked like a jar of sauce and the pasta looked and tasted like cheap penne from the shop.
It’s disappointing as north wales food influencers are writing all over social media how good the food is when they’ve obviously been given a free meal.
The toilets haven’t be refurbished, they looked old and could have done with a face lift too. The toilets were out of paper and a lady let the staff know yet 30-40 minutes later they hadn’t been restocked.
We knew it had gone down hill since being sold to the owners of love to eat but hoped the food had improved with the refurbishment. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to case and we...
