1* - I did not enjoy it.
Went there for a dissapointment, based on overall review scores...
Let's look at everything...
● Staff in batter covered dirty clothes. I understand that it's what they work with, but you don't see a kitchen chef covered head to toe in food. And if you do, don't eat there.
● Food preperation area absolutley "hanging". Batter everywhere on worktop and floor. Again, I understand it is what they work with, but it does take 5 seconds to wipe down. Mainly when there was about 6 members of staff.
● The place is small with a large number of tables. It's too much. Plus there are bar stools by the wall table, how on earth will a person fit in, when there is two tables next to it. Only few tables outside, burning hot in nice sunny weather, as they are metal.
● Tables and chairs dirty and sticky, also found few boogers on the edge of my table from children. As you'd imagine, they get a lot of children, so it's not a place to come and relax whilst enjoying a waffle.
● Cutlery was not 100% clean. They looked poorly hand washed. I don't like calling people over and complaining as God know what you end up eating after.
● Milkshake - are you expecting nice thick tasty milkshake? Oh yes - not at this place. Water mixed with cold-ish milk, no specific taste to it either. When I got this and mine tasted same as my other halfes. We ordered a toffee shake and white choc. Tasted the same.
● Waffles - After getting a disapointimg milkshake, I somehow knew the rest would be as everything so far. Sh**! I won't go in to too much detail about the long wait for this disappointment. However, it was presented in an ok style where I thought for a minute, I did judge too early and it may be good. Sorry, it wasn't. There was a really strong taste of oil in them. And I mean really strong, they did not feel sort of airy and light .. I hope you know what I mean. It was just not right. Felt really heavy. After I pored the maple syrup over, they nearly melted away and vaporised in air.. weird. Oh yes, maple syrup? Mixed with water. I also asked for the "upgrade" with pecan nuts and ice cream. Pecan nuts, turned into walnuts and the vanilla ice cream was sort of cheap frozen watery scoop. Other half did not enjoy her jam and peanut butter, as it tasted really cheap.
That's all.
Now, I understand people are in the business to make money, however I'd say that people rather travel and pay £10 for a decent tasting waffle, then £4 for a disappointment. It was a place that I really won't plan on visiting again.
Really easy fix for this place as it only is on quality of product and clenliness. I would not be worried at all to double or tripple the prices for a quality and tasty product, however at this rate, it feels you charge too much for this.
I don't think I'm being unreasonable, just stating...
Read moreFirst time eating here. We have tried to go in before and felt the staff were rude but decided to give it another go today. Outside eating area was busy, which was expected as it’s a nice warm sunny day, inside was quiet with only one other table occupied. We sat down and then went to order. This was at 3:15pm with closing listed at 4pm. After eventually getting served (4 members all with backs to the till) we ordered and paid , one of the staff members then exclaimed “I thought we were closed?” - the lady on the till said “yes, after this one”. We then saw the disgruntled staff member give us filthy looks and start to clean up the inside of the shop. Another customer came in and ordered something - again this staff member stated “I thought we were closed!” This staff member then proceeded to sweep up under our table while we were eating, crashing in to our chairs, feet and the table. The irony was we were eaten and out of the place by 3:45. They were preparing for a child’s birthday party - if having customers in so close to a party is an issue then maybe have a cutoff and not make your customers feel awkward, rushed and generally like a nuisance. The milkshakes were nice, the waffles weren’t anything special and overpriced for what you had. We...
Read moreWe haven't been here in a long time, so decided to treat ourselves. As we remembered, there is a lovely selection of sweet and savoury waffles.
It was very quiet bar one family and as we sat down had a look my wife went up to till and paid.
Took about 20 minutes for our order to arrive and look amazing. I had the banana boat and my wife had the bacon waffle. We also had a salted carmel milkshake. All of this was lovely and gone within 5 minutes.
The young people were polite when they took our order and brought our food over, but there was one lady in particular with blond hair who was making all the orders and working very hard (not saying the others werent) but we wanted to say thank you for the lovely food. You took the time as well when we left to pop your head up and say goodbye and thankyou.
Only thing I would say is the toilet lock is a bit dodgey, when you leave keep turning the lock and eventually it does...
