award winning fish and chips in cirencester ! we had to try. unfortunately the sit-in price was nearly double the takeaway price, making it on par with London prices! we thought this was quite extortionate so we opted to takeaway and eat in the car pictured are the small cod and the regular cod loin meals. the regular cod is quite large! whilst the small is true to the name. the fish was beautifully flaky and quite filling, especially with the generous portions of chips! sadly the chip shop curry sauce was not the best. it was very quiet when we visited at 5pm on wednesday, we were the only customers, but the lady at the till was very friendly and the ambiance of the place was quite nice. overall worth the visit, though we are not sure it is worth the eat in price as it is quite expensive for fish and chips.

One of the best fish and chips experiences I’ve had. The fish was incredibly fresh with a light, crispy batter and moist, flaky inside. The smashed peas were a standout – easily the best I’ve tasted. The salt and pepper squid was perfectly seasoned and impressively fresh. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive without being overbearing. Despite the restaurant’s popularity and steady crowd, the staff maintained excellent standards and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail showed their commitment to quality. Pricing was fair for the top-tier dining experience offered. Highly recommended for anyone seeking truly exceptional fish and chips and great service.

We order the fish and chips as a main and mussels as a starter. I have to say both are superb. I have been living in Grimsby for 7 years and after I tried fish and chips in so many places I always think the fish and chips in Grimsby are the country best. I am wrong! This restaurant is the best! Jackie is so friendly and we definitely need to come back again and again. (I changed from chips to sweet potato chips but the normal chips are great too!)

This would be a 5 star review, the food was excellent, the restaurant was nice and cosy and the staff member behind was polite, so what went wrong?

After paying we sat down with a couple of beers, waited for our food which we was told would only be around ten minutes (which it was), however when the food did turn up, it was served in cardboard boxes in a paper bag. I checked if we was actually okay to eat the meal in the restaurant as we weren't given any cutlery, and it seemed a bit off to be served food like this, but I was told that we weren't able to as we paid the takeaway price?

We never asked for takeaway, we didn't expect takeaway, I thought I was eating a nice meal in a nice restaurant on my first evening in Cirencester. Instead, I'm told I've paid for something else, which ends up with me eating my meal at a park bench, in the dark, on a cold October evening.

I should have been asked if I either wanted takeaway or to eat in, but I wasn't. I'd have paid for eat in price if I had known, money wasn't an issue I just wanted to eat in a restaurant. I left a little confused and didn't enjoy the meal to be honest as I was just p*ed off.

Next time ask if it's eat in...

This is easily the nicest fish and chip shop experience that I have ever had. I had the Easter weekend special, the Prawn Ageddon. Undoubtedly, it was amazing. Even the sauces on the side are quite the nicest sauces that I have had the fortune to taste. The shrimp, prawn and scampi were flavoursome and cooked to perfection. It was clear to me that there was an incontrovertible passion that went into the preparation of this meal. On the side, I had some regular features, some cod bites, which were lovely to say the very least,.Some salt and pepper squid - beyond divine and ham hock and leek mushy peas, which I can honestly say were the nicest ever mushy peas that I have ever had in my life. Last but not least, the chips! It's all about the chips - they are scrumptious and beautifully cooked. They have just the right level of crispness and are perfect right to the middle. For me, they have served as a real treat on a day of gargantuan chip craving. Yet again, they surpass all other fish and chip shops. Their food is worth every penny, this is definitely chip...

A lot of places up and down the country will tell you that their fish and chips are the best. And everyone may actually have some award to their name. But this place boasts of multiple ones. And to be honest, it lives up to the name. First thing that gets you is the size of the menu and the variety they have. Second, the sourcing of the fish and where they caught and even who caught it. And then lastly, the friendly manager. We had one small cod with chips and a dish called prawnageddon. The fish and chips were amazing, perfectly fried and yet tender within. The mushy peas are ok, standard. But for me, the winner was actually the prawn dish. Amazing quality and collection of different shrimp varieties served with multiple sauces. We loved every bit of it and wiped our plates clean! Must visit if you are in the area. Note that they have 2 floors with same food. But unfortunately only serve tap beer on the first floor. We had to live with bottled beer on the ground floor but a very...
