This would be a 5 star review, the food was excellent, the restaurant was nice and cosy and the staff member behind was polite, so what went wrong?
After paying we sat down with a couple of beers, waited for our food which we was told would only be around ten minutes (which it was), however when the food did turn up, it was served in cardboard boxes in a paper bag. I checked if we was actually okay to eat the meal in the restaurant as we weren't given any cutlery, and it seemed a bit off to be served food like this, but I was told that we weren't able to as we paid the takeaway price?
We never asked for takeaway, we didn't expect takeaway, I thought I was eating a nice meal in a nice restaurant on my first evening in Cirencester. Instead, I'm told I've paid for something else, which ends up with me eating my meal at a park bench, in the dark, on a cold October evening.
I should have been asked if I either wanted takeaway or to eat in, but I wasn't. I'd have paid for eat in price if I had known, money wasn't an issue I just wanted to eat in a restaurant. I left a little confused and didn't enjoy the meal to be honest as I was just p*ed off.
Next time ask if it's eat in...
Read moreThis is easily the nicest fish and chip shop experience that I have ever had. I had the Easter weekend special, the Prawn Ageddon. Undoubtedly, it was amazing. Even the sauces on the side are quite the nicest sauces that I have had the fortune to taste. The shrimp, prawn and scampi were flavoursome and cooked to perfection. It was clear to me that there was an incontrovertible passion that went into the preparation of this meal. On the side, I had some regular features, some cod bites, which were lovely to say the very least,.Some salt and pepper squid - beyond divine and ham hock and leek mushy peas, which I can honestly say were the nicest ever mushy peas that I have ever had in my life. Last but not least, the chips! It's all about the chips - they are scrumptious and beautifully cooked. They have just the right level of crispness and are perfect right to the middle. For me, they have served as a real treat on a day of gargantuan chip craving. Yet again, they surpass all other fish and chip shops. Their food is worth every penny, this is definitely chip...
Read moreA lot of places up and down the country will tell you that their fish and chips are the best. And everyone may actually have some award to their name. But this place boasts of multiple ones. And to be honest, it lives up to the name. First thing that gets you is the size of the menu and the variety they have. Second, the sourcing of the fish and where they caught and even who caught it. And then lastly, the friendly manager. We had one small cod with chips and a dish called prawnageddon. The fish and chips were amazing, perfectly fried and yet tender within. The mushy peas are ok, standard. But for me, the winner was actually the prawn dish. Amazing quality and collection of different shrimp varieties served with multiple sauces. We loved every bit of it and wiped our plates clean! Must visit if you are in the area. Note that they have 2 floors with same food. But unfortunately only serve tap beer on the first floor. We had to live with bottled beer on the ground floor but a very...
