There used to be a restaurant on Foleshill Road called Kurdistan, and honestly, their food was something special. From the lentil soup to the chicken and rice, every single bite felt comforting and full of flavour. It wasn’t just food – it was an experience, and I truly loved it. To this day, I still miss it. Kurdistan had a way of making you feel at home with every plate they served.
Since it closed down, I’ve started going to Darya. While nothing will ever replace Kurdistan in my heart, Darya has its own charm. The food is fresh, the tea is warm, and the people working there are incredibly generous, patient, and kind. They really do make you feel welcome. Sometimes there can be little mix-ups with orders if you’re not Kurdish, but you can see how much effort they put into understanding and serving you right, and that makes a big difference.
Kurdistan will always remain a favourite memory, but Darya is a reminder that good food and good people...
