UPDATE: Looks at the other reviews from people about the owner being rude, its very true.
To add they are stingy with their samosa chutney (to be fare most places are) but to give you a small pot of sauce for 40 samosas is bad, it would cost pennies to make and its doesn't taste the best either.
Firstly the food and specifically samosas are great and authentic. So why won't I be going back there?
I have been visiting this establishment since they opened, I think over 10 years and I've had just about enough of the customer service here.
The Punjabi owner (guy with turban and beard) is just plain rude since I first went there. I am Asian myself and speak the language, so it's not crossed wires. when you purchase anything he holds onto the bag and wont let go until the money is in his hand, like you are going to run off with his samosas. He knows I am a regular customer for the past10 years but still does this and it's always irritated me, nowhere have I been that does this, let alone somewhere I have been going the last 10 years.
He is always grumpy and last time I went he basically started to nearly shout at me and tried to embarrass me in front of other customers looking at them and shaking his head. All because I had asked for 2 separate orders over the phone and told them I would pay for them individually, this was pre-booked and explained over the phone before I arrived. I also asked if this was okay and the lady said of course. I gave him what for and then he smiled as he knew he had over stepped the mark with me and i was angry.
I have vowed to my family that I will not go back and would write a review as this is not a one off.
Rude behaviour and a bad attitude to people is not the Sikhi way. You can look pious and religious but if you are not a good human being and rude to your fellow man and customers, what's the point?
The other staff I have been served by have seemed fine, but to the owner I'm afraid you have lost any business from me or my family.
I go to Punjabi foods or Standard Sweet Centre...
Read moreWe have been going to this place for many years. Really enjoyed their pizza and paneer samosas. Couple of years ago-We found a hair in the food then phoned and complained. Only reply we had was “ ok, thanks for letting us know.” Lady hung up on me- no apology. Then we didn’t go there for a bit. We Ignored that fact and started buying food again since last year. We had been buying food from them atleast once every 6-7 weeks.
This time was the first time when I bought some boxes of Laddoos and gave two boxes out of them to my Bhua ji in a celebration of a birth of our little nephew. I, myself don’t eat much mathiaaee/ laddoos. Bhua ji and her daughter in law phoned and told me that laddoos smell of oil and they are extremely sweet. Gave me laddoo boxes back and told me to return them. I met lady on the counter she wasn’t happy with the complain and then she called Uncle ji from inside. He was not happy with the complain. He gave me money back for the two boxes that I I took back and was very rude. I told uncle ji that I am your regular customer and his reply was get mathiaaee from somewhere else and nothing wrong with our laddos. I was quite disappointed the way uncle ji spoke.I didn’t expect him to be rude. No doubt their samosas are really nice but staff...
Read moreI'm just baffled as to what exactly the whites, the chinese....and the japanese found so good about this place. Don't call me racist.....as I'm an Indian. This place has to be bad for customer service. The guy is so retarded, (what seems to be the owner) we've decided to call him pudu. Which roughly translates as Dumbo. When we ordered an 'aloo wala paratha' (which is potato stuffed chappati style flatbread - thingy) He comes back with a 'oollee wala pizza' which means mouldy pizza. He gets us exactly that! The pizza might look appetising and all, but he makes this guy slave and work long hours and serve your food. Look at the guys (chefs/food makers) clothes. Hygeine is not the best thing, how on earth do they get away with 3 stars when it should be lower just by looking at surroudings and chef coming to serve you. I feel sorry for chef he was shouted at badly when not his fault. The owner is a complete mute, when my bro returned a pizza once, with hair in it. All the owner did was, speak no words and just nod. What on earth are you supposed to do then? Every time I've from here got the runs, so...
