It was a mild spring night when we visited this establishment - even BEFORE we had chosen an Indian restaurant to dine from, we knew. We knew we wanted a butter chicken and chicken tandoori (2 chicken dishes is a bit much - but the heart wants what the heart needs).
The tandoori chicken leg was tender, although the breast was a little dry, the yoghurt dressing was a little on the sweet side for my preferences but no complaints.
The butter chicken, PLOT TWIST, I believe was actually a butternut squash chicken. Think spiced pumpkin soup meets an Indian chicken curry. Maybe they looked at us and thought - these two don’t need anymore butter in their life, we’ll never know. But it delivered strange vibes to the meal, did we still eat it 90% of it? Absolutely.
Would we come back? Not for a ‘butter chicken’...
Read moreBombay Joes was one disappointing meal. The food was overpriced, bringing us popadums before the menus that cost £2.70 and a FURTHER £2.70 for chutneys when this price wasn't mentioned at all. £4 for a glass of diet coke and £11 for a fish dish with less than 8 small chunks. The chicken dish we ordered for our main was good except for the actual chicken which had a weird, crunchy texture. The only good dish we had was the Naga paneer which I would recommend only if you plan on actually going here. Furthermore, the name of this restaurant is misleading as the food is not Indian, let alone from Bombay but is instead Bangladeshi and should be advertised as such.
Overall, priced poorly according to portion size and quality, and misleading name. Would...

Booked online - arrived a little early but staff quickly found the booking and seated us. The environment has been very well adapted for social distancing with reduced tables, sanitising stations, coatings on handles and visors for staff. The staff were also wearing gloves and gave us disposable menus. Despite this, it was a pleasant place to sit.
We had poppadoms, bajis, samosa followed by tikka rogab josh and masala. A garlic and a peshwari nan on the side. Everything was served really hot (temperature) and tasted fantastic. The curry was perhaps a little mild but the flavours were excellent, portion sizes were large and we thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Would highly...
