196 Coffee Lounge you were fabulous, looks fab from the outside and just as fab on the inside, very very clean, Great decor!! Our friends had told us about 196 and they were exactly right. The staff were all very nice and couldn’t do enough for us, all very friendly. GORGEOUS Coffee and the cakes were out of this world. My husband had a scone with butter, jam and cream which he said was absolutely beautiful! I’m more of a cake girl the bigger the slice with lots of buttercream the better, so I had a big slab of the double chocolate, It was so moist and the buttercream was delicious! My mother in law had Biscof cheesecake and she was highly delighted. We will definatley be back on our next visit in a few months...

Well what can I say...I havent been to Matlock in over 30 years and passed this place and thought it looked lovely and soooo glad we walked back to it! Fab coffee. The most amazing scone, butter jam and cream I've ever had..forget Cornwall! Such friendly service with a friendly atmosphere. ...would recommend it to anyone visiting Matlock. Chris was such fun to talk too and other 2 members of staff as equally welcoming and friendly. Spotlessly clean but do try the cakes and coffee. If I lived locally I would Def be a regular and nice to support an independent. Aside from the Apothecary shop the best frontage on the promenade. Keep on doing what you are doing you can't not continue to succeed...

We stumbled upon this place on our visit to Matlock. Me & my husband had the cheese & ham toastie which was delicious & hot & very reasonably priced! It came with a side salad & a little pot of coleslaw. We spotted the scones which all looked amazing & couldn't resist, so we both had a cherry bakewell with butter (the butter is to die for) You also have the choice of having clotted cream & jam. We ordered a pot of Earl Grey tea between us & 1 pot was enough as we prefer smaller cups. The host's are very friendly & chatty, making you feel very welcome. The decor is amazing, very tastefully decorated & makes it a pleasure to dine & admire! We will definitely be back for 1 of...
