Was actually going to Charles for bfast but as we got there it was closed 😔 so wandered bk to the car feeling let down as was really looking forward to a big bfast then saw this place. Feeling cold and hungry we decided to pop in and just see what it was like. First thing on menu big bfast brilliant so two ordered with scrambled eggs and no tomatoes. Drinks came out quickly then the toast came out followed by our bfast but it had fried eggs 🙈 I quickly explained we had ordered scrambled on both and it was quickly whisked away with no questions asked. Afew minutes later the bfast returned with a very apologetic waitress scrambled egg on it and an extra piece off bacon for the inconvenience caused. Well what can I say this bfast was cooked to perfection one of the best I've had. I can be quite funny with my scrambled egg and don't like it soggy and wet and this was none of that it was the best scrambled egg I've had while out and about. Clean plates left and a massive thank you to the staff and a thumbs up to the chef with a tip left and honestly will definitely be bk. So if anyone is after a fresh cooked bfast this is definitely...

Had the restoration breakfast because we'd had it before and thought it was quite good, despite the price and lack of tea! More expensive now and the quality is much reduced. The egg was so small it looked ridiculous, especially with some random green leaves put on top. There was hardly enough lurpak to put on the slice of toast and the grilled half of a tomato had obviously had a slice or two removed to put in someone's sarnies. Still no tea, which for over £13 was poor, and the pot of marmalade also has disappeared off the menu. The service was ok but the noise in there of banging pots from the kitchen echoing round the room and competing with the radio made it impossible to have conversation with my husband. So. Won't be going...

Visited at 11:35ish following a great panto in the Grand Pavilion upstairs. Upon trying to order some food, we were told they had finished serving breakfast/brunch though they were still serving it to other tables and the sign states until midday and lunch from midday (misleading if this is not the case). We didn't leave but decided to order coffees and cake (the only food they had available). After a good 10 minutes I had to remind them of the order, to which at that point they started making it. We had higher hopes for this place, perhaps we will be back and they'll live up to that standard, but for now service gets a 1 star, food 3 star and atmosphere 5 star. I'll revisit next year and hope to give a...

Lovely little cafe. We stopped in for lunch and although a little slow on serving us, the food was worth the wait. The oatcakes & toasties are fab! The staff were super nice and chatty plus it’s dog friendly 👍 Not many places open for lunch on a Monday in November in Matlock Bath so this was a great find!

We found this place after navigating past the myriad of fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath, in search of a decent hot drink and a sandwich. We were overwhelmed by the quality, portions and value for money. And the staff are incredibly friendly. A must visit if you’re in this neck of the woods.
