New China Rose — Restaurant in Derbyshire Dales

I recently visited New China Rose in Matlock Bath, and it was a fantastic experience all around. The quality of the food was excellent — everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavour.

There was a wide range of dishes to choose from, and we were truly spoiled for choice. Whether you’re a fan of classic favourites or want to try something new, there’s something for everyone on the menu.

The service was equally impressive: fast, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Located right in the heart of Matlock Bath, it’s in an ideal spot whether you’re exploring the area or just passing through. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.

Truly a hidden gem. The staff was brilliant. They fitted in my family of 3 at 8.45 when closing at 10. The duck was succulent yet crispy. We ordered the special curry, plain chow mein, special chow mein and crispy fried shredded beef with no sauce.

A fantastic restaurant and I have high standard, with a reputation of sending food back if not happy. I'm a highly trained chef and I was impressed.

Don't judge a book by its cover is the key here. The decor inside is lovely, the dragon made from folded paper is fascinating.

Do give these a try as I couldn't fault the service or the food.

Unfortunately, we've never even been able to try the food. First time we came was about 1.5 years ago, it was closed despite maps saying it was open. Tried again today, sent a message on here to book, got no reply, arrived to the restaurant at 5:30, they tell us there are no tables, fair enough it's a very busy day, ten minutes later we get a reply to our initial message on maps asking "did you still want to book?" We confirmed we do, then no response so I called and they went "errmm not sure I'm not the one in charge of maps, let me check... Nope, we don't have...
