Mum and I had a lovely day at matlock bath yesterday For late lunch we cslled in at Kostas fish and chips, been using this place for a good few year's now, once again did not disappoint service was excellent the lady on the till took down all our requests as my mum is particular how she likes her small fish meal, nothing was too much trouble, the owner is very friendly and talks, always smiling which is so welcoming to any customer. We were given a buzzer, the lady even came out yo us to say our fish was being cooked and to check she'd got instructions correct 10/10 customer service we took our fish and chips yo sit by river, my mum said this fish is absolutely delicious the best I've had in years she's 88 and i took her in wheelchair so we could get around easily. Trying to decide out of the multiple fish shops in Matlock bath, I chose this one after reading so many good reviews and I’m glad I did. I assuming it was the owner who was cooking away was very friendly, greeted everyone as they walked through the door. Placed my order for takeaway and had to wait around 10 mins, he apologised about the wait but I didn’t mind at all as everything was cooked to order. As soon as it was ready, it was wrapped straight away. Our short drive back to our campsite and it was still piping hot when we got back. Generous portions, fish were huge. We weren't exactly very happy in this fish&chips shop. It took a while to get the order. It can be fair enough if you know it's really freshly cook. We asked for curry sauce with our order (take away). Our experience is to get it on the side in the special cup when you have take away. Unfortunately we got all sauce all over the chips which soaked them and we couldn't use it for fish. Sad think was that my chips weren't cooked enough. Other thing is that I've been told that this shop is more expensive but better. I can't prove it, sorry. There was a nice girl taking order but the rest was slow. The cook was talking to his friends instead of cooking, sauce all over not cooked chips. I won't come back. There are better places...
