I went to the Grove Pub in Exmouth and was mistreated. We came in after a couple of hours at the beach to enjoy a pint in the beer garden. Firstly, no one came to seat us even that several A boards mentioned we had to wait to be seated. After 5 minutes waiting we went to speak to one of the waiters who said we could not order unless we had the app. As the signal was poor ir took at least 15 min for the app to be downloaded. After asking two different members of staff if there was an alternative method to order we were refused and said we would have to wait for the app to download. As it was 28c we decided to remove the T-shirtās and despite 2 members of staff saying it would be absolutely fine we then had what seemed to be a senior member of staff coming to our table asking if we were waiting for foods or drinks and rudely said we had to put the shirts on. We obviously obeyed and got on with enjoying our beers. A few moments later a clearly drunk Englishman sat at the beer garden and said he didnāt have the app and not only this same manager gave him a face mask and let him go inside the pub to get a beer (which was denied to us previously ) but also came out with the card machine for this gentleman to pay. This is clearly discriminatory very likely just because one of the people that was with us was foreign and we were taking in his language. There is no place for racism and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy adventures continue in the fair town of Exmouth, Devon, where fortune hath guided me to a hidden gem known as the Grove Pub. Here, amidst the winding streets and the salt-kissed air, I didst find a haven of heartwarming hospitality.
Upon crossing the threshold, I was greeted with a tankard of ale, the finest brew crafted by local hands, and a hearty meal that didst satisfy even the most ravenous appetite. The fare, rich with the bounty of Devon's fertile lands, was both robust and comforting, a true testament to the culinary arts of this region.
But 'twas not merely the victuals that did delight my senses; the atmosphere within was most convivial. The warmth of the hearth was rivaled only by the warmth of the people, whose jests and laughter filled the air, making even a stranger feel as if he were amongst old friends. The Grove Pub is a place where one may find not only sustenance for the body but also cheer for the soul.
In sum, the Grove Pub in Exmouth is a treasure well worth discovering. Its blend of local charm, fine ale, and hearty fare, coupled with an ambiance as welcoming as the summer sun, doth make it a must for any traveler seeking respite and good company.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe decided on The Grove as it felt quite busy on the Saturday afternoon we visited. But the weather soon turned chilly so we headed indoors. We only wanted a simple lunch as we were eating later in the day. I ordered the king prawns in garlic butter and my husband ordered the scotch egg. When the egg arrived it was literally an egg with the tiniest amount of sausage meat around it and a teaspoon of mustard on the plate (even though my husband did say no mustard). There was no salad, nothing else on the plate and we felt it was a rip off. The prawns were tasty but having to peel them whilst they were in a hot sauce and without a finger bowl was both hot and messy. The waiter did ask if everything was all right with our food and when I explained the disappointment with the egg he mumbled an apology and disappeared. We should of took the complaint further but it felt like it would be a waste of time and we left quite swiftly afterwards never to return again. Shame on The Grove as we are not tourists, you should look after your visitors better and ensure they will always...
