what a silly place this is. . went in with my daughter to buy a few overpriced american sweets for about 6 pounds. when the girl finally came to the counter from sitting chatting in the cafe area she put the sale through without a smile or hello. my daughters card declined, which was my fault as i forgot to load it with money that day, its one of those teen style things. so i paid on my card, the card machine said authorised but the girl said its not gone through, i said it has the machine just told me so, she said it has not gone through on her terminal and could i log into my bank account online and prove it had gone out of my account!... never have i heard of such a thing, quite shocking - perhaps you could log into your account and prove you had not received payment, anxious to get out and carry on with our day i logged in via 4g and thankfully its showed up instantly on my account that 6.08 had left to sugar sweet, she was shown the account and details of the transaction. so thats that.... no, she then said i need to call my manager to see why its not connecting with the terminal it shouldnt take long... what the actual.... this is not my problem at all... do this on your own time not mine, i took the sweets and put them in my bag and said we are done here as i have paid and you can sort your till out with your manager, she looked shocked as if i had in some way offended her or was trying to steal the sweets... when in fact i found you rude, offensive and poorly trained, you also gave my daughter a dirty look on leaving. we will not set foot in the place again. its also full of outdated product they have overstocked on and cannot sell, so putting out daft things like noodles at 50p with best before dates of feb 2023!..in nov 2023!.. not sure this is even legal, but sometimes you need to take a hit in business (i have three), just throw them away, trying to sell them for 50p makes you looks cheap and desperate, perhaps thats the case and you wont be in business a great deal...
Read moreI went to buy some Barqs Rootbeer. I saw on the shelf it says Barqs Rootbeer £1.99 each Buy 3 for 2. I decided to buy 3. I got to the counter and the female assistant asked for £5. I said politely that the price is £3.98. She disagreed, quite rudely. I asked her to come and look at the price on the shelf. She read it, but then announced that she had sold 3 earlier and the customer was willing to pay £5. I pointed out, again as politely as I could that the product was advertised as 3 for 2, and that should be £3.98, not £5. She then got quite agitated and told me to leave the shop! I’m 62 years old, a journalist and professional business owner. I know how to respect shop staff, and I am courteous. I’ve never been asked to leave a shop before. She treated me with disdain because I requested to pay the advertised price. I’ve been shopping here since the day they opened. I will not be shopping here again while that employee continues to work there. If the price label was a mistake, fair enough. I did ask if I could contact the Manager, but the assistant refused to give me the Managers contact details. Then, when I asked for her name at least, she refused that also. So it seems this shop wants its customers to pay whatever price they decide at the till, and then won’t let you register a complaint with the Manager. Thoroughly...
Read moreEven for American candy the prices are insane. £2 for a regular sized drink can? Or nearly £5 for a regular sized energy drink. A lot of the sweets can be found in Tesco or home bargains for less than half the price and if not it can be found online much cheaper, for example a pack of pop tarts being £5.
I've looked around the shop multiple times trying to find anything affordable and every time the only offers are sweets that are short dated or are still an insane price. Apparently ice tea at 2 for £5 is an offer despite the same brand being available for much less than that in Aldi.
The promotional signs have not "escaped me" they just still don't make the prices in any...
