Well after reading all the other reviews, i expect a sarcastic passing the blame response back from unprofessional management. Infact ill be disappointed if management dont respond sarcastically, as previous responses clearly show the true colours of the place. ( cafe opposite home bargains in shopping centre of skegness) So here goes... My partner and i visited here with family ( one severely disabled child and our 7 month baby ) before getting seated my partner went to see if there was space for both wheelchair and pushchair. A senior staff member told him they had space and pointed to the table. Once at the table it was clear both chairs where going to block the walk way, so with permission my partner started to move a small round table (out of the walkway) to make space for our limited mobility children. Although the senior staff member told my partner is was okay to move the table, she then changed her mind or forgot she said we could move it ( possibly amnesia) because of how rude and inconsiderate she was i started to back out with my disabled child. To which the senior member instantly changed her attitude. She moved the table blocking the front door instead of putting it at the back of the establishment (plenty of space ) so with once fire exit blocked we looked at the menu. Pretty decent menu, order tea, coffee and custard whilest me and my partner looked at lunch options. Custard was custard no issues. Would of expected a cafe to make their own quiche, we had a jacket potatos instead. Best part of my potato was the coleslaw, my partner was disgusted with the small amount of tuna for a over ÂŁ6 jacket potato with tiny tiny tiny salad. (Salad looked lovely though) so food was cold, it didn't surprise me as it took 2 mins to arrive ( no joke) . My partner poured milk into his coffee and found two ends of a sugar wrapper floating in his cup (not ours) i looked inside the milk jug where i saw another sugar wrapper end stuck to the side. (Lovely cross contamination) i already had milk in my tea and drank half of it. We called over a staff member who was polite and offered who more drinks. Like a karen i asked for the manager. When the manager arrived we were given the more unprofessional excuse ive ever heard in all my time in hospitality and catering. " sometimes the paper from the dishwasher throws the paper in the machine around and it just sticks to the jugs " Jesus so your telling me that your dishwasher doesn't clean and everything you serve with is contaminated Come on now that's disgusting . I mentioned to the same manager that our food was dreadful and cold. And we left more than 3/4 of it. I told management i will pay for the custard only, and wow the management was umming and ahhing about the drinks. Jesus that's the most contaminated part of the order. The bill was dished out before the food ( dont quote me on policies like you have in other reviews ,make a choice pay before eating or after not half way through so unprofessional) we paid for the custard and left. There was no confrontation no unplugging of fridges ( as stated in other reviews) complained felt physically sick with gross excuse, paid for custard as a goodwill gesture and left peacefully with kids. Training still needed here although "20 years" of service has been obtained, there is still a long way to go, maybe another 20...
Read moreWent into the cottage loaf for a cheese and onion roll. Tables and overall appearance is clean tidy and respectable. It was nice to see a cafe run by older people. My wife ordered a bacon and mushroom melt baguette and Pepsi max, I ordered cheese and onion baguette (came with crisps and a small side salad) my daughter wanted cheesy chips, which all though wasn't on the menu was not an issue. Food came and was very well presented. We then got the bill and nearly had to apply for a second mortgage. Yes the prices are on the menu but if you go of the menu the prices go though thr roof. A cheese and onion baguette was 9.45!!!!! Cheesy Chips £8.00 a normal bowl of chips is 3.70. When I questioned the bill the lady at the counter explained that we had a Cheesy chip meal not a side order and that's how much. I had said that we were not told of the price to which I got back you didn't ask fair enough point taken, but I also didn't expect to pay 4.30 for a little bit of cheese. As I was leaving I heard the lady say "How Rude!!" Sorry for questioning why you are riping me off. Moral of the story...
Read moreWe went today for a bite to eat and wasn’t impressed with the service at all. My wife asked for omelette chips and beans and I got quiche chips and beans was all ok at first while we was drinking a cuppa. Our food came We shouted one of the waitresses over because there was no beans with the omelette she said you’d have to pay extra £1,70 for the beans which we were shocked about it’s not as if it was a cheap meal in the first place at £7,95. If the place was busy fare enough but it wasn’t it was dead!! No shock with the prices they charge. I work in sales myself and have to provide excellent customer service it’s all about the customer and the experience. Unfortunately we will not be going in there again. Go to yorkies Cafe round the corner it’s Cheaper and better...
