Isabel's Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in East Staffordshire

What a shame. We had booked in here for my daughter’s celebration evening after saying yes to her wedding dress and we were all very excited as none of us had been before. When we arrived 2 of us went in and was immediately told about the cocktail specials which was fine but we ordered a different drink to start for all 4 of us. When the other 2 came in they were given the hard sell from the same server and was not told we had already ordered for us 4 so they picked a drink for us as well. The server didn't let them know that our original drink had not even been brough to the table yet. So then we ended up with 2 drinks each at the same time and the second special was a creamy one so by the time we finished our first drink this had gone warm so we all had to leave it and send it away at our cost. Then when my daughter had explained to the server that she had chosen her wedding dress that day she was told if she did a review she would get free shots. She then spent a while writing the review and showing the server the wording and posted it but after the server spoke to the manager she came back and said you need to prove it’s been submitted but all she could show was the confirmation as it wouldn't let her go back on it. My daughter then went to the manager to help try and show that she had done it as it looks like it does not automatically post straight away. The manager then said that all 4 of us needed to post to get the shot, which after spending about half hour with this my daughter came back to to have some food. The food was just unreal, it was so good. While we were eating the server came back over and said the manager said all 4 of us needed to do a review before they would give any shots. After this and how long it had already taken from the night, I told her we didn’t need her free shots and I would just buy shots for us, we wanted to try and lighten the mood very quickly after this. I also ordered a round of drinks for the table at the same time, but my daughter was so upset by this time that she had spent so long trying to sort a free shot out after staff was trying to sell this to us to do, it had completely changed the mood of the night. By the time the drinks came to the table we had all had enough and just wanted to leave as it just felt so awkward so i got the bill and paid and we left the final round of drinks and all the shots i paid for as thats how rubbish it made us feel. We paid £200 for 1 full drink we drank and half the food we were trying to pick at while this was all happening. Myself and my daughter had booked to go back with our partners in a couple of weeks which we have quickly cancelled. It seemed all they cared about was people posting reviews and not actually looking after their customers and making sure they had a good time. Even after asking for the bill after leaving most of the food and ALL of the drinks, nobody asked if everything was ok. So...

We had a delicious family meal on a Sunday afternoon (today) at Isabel’s in Burton. The menu was varied and the addition of the Greek options offered a super variation. Each staff member was friendly and helpful with every aspect of our experience. The timing of the drinks and food was perfect and the quality was highly sustained. My children had a good choice of menu too which made the experience even better. There was a special offer on this Sunday with a discount. I love visiting here at different times of the day with a different ambiance and experience as appropriate to the time. The owner, Nathan Dawe also popped in during our meal which demonstrated care and attention of the owner. I didn’t take photos of the main course as we were all super hungry from our outdoor adventuring earlier in the day, however I did take photos of the puds for delivered to my family members - I enjoyed a coffee to complete my meal! The puds were demolished easily as a result of their quality. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and alongside The Dial in Burton, these are my only two go tos with my friends and family for choice, quality and experience. Me and my family came in for quiz night last night and it was amazing! I had the pulled BBQ chicken mac and cheese which was absolutely delicious. The rest of my family had the yakiniku chicken skewers, sriracha honey glazed halloumi, Isabel’s premium cheese platter (Red leister, Brie and Stilton with whipped butter, caramelised onion chutney, grapes and crackers) and a good few house fries between us. All of the food was amazing and piping hot. The drinks are always out of this world and my mom also had a custom cocktail, an cosmo, which is always really appreciated. Onto the actual quiz itself, we couldn’t recommend it more! There were few questions that really make you rack your brain, but we all had so much fun. We were very lucky to be the quiz winners too, a four person twilight spa trip to hoar cross! Second place winning a bottle of whispering angel and third a premium cheese platter for their next visit, these insane prizes have us excited for what’s next. This honestly is the perfect way to spend your Sunday evening and we can’t wait to come back for...
