We visited Miller & Carter this evening for the very first time to celebrate a special occasion - our wedding! We’re currently on our honeymoon in the area and wanted to mark the moment with a memorable meal. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The restaurant had a lovely ambience, and every member of staff we interacted with was friendly, kind, and full of character. At the start of our meal, the service was prompt and attentive, which we really appreciated. As the evening went on, things did slow down a bit and we ended up being there for around two hours, mostly due to waiting between courses. That said, the team remained courteous throughout, and overall the service was good. One thing we felt a little let down by was the lack of any special acknowledgment of our celebration. We had noted in the booking that we were celebrating our wedding, and while we were treated kindly and fairly like every other guest, we were hoping for a small touch to mark the occasion - perhaps a congratulatory gesture, a complimentary drink, or a little something to make it feel extra special. That aside, the food was delicious and well-cooked, and we did enjoy our evening.

This is a great place. Often considered a bit more pricey but when you consider the growing costs of average, unhealthy takeaways or restaurants charging around 20£ for a pasta dish, M&C makes much more sense. I've had 3 steaks from here and would rank with an avg of 8.5/10. recommend is the aged small fillet at a perfect 10/10. Lobster and Fish is also good but lacks the belly busting size of the Master of steak experience. Additional sides are good but not necessary. The Master experience included sides are great, the onion loaf has been greatly improved and adds value now, the lettuce wedge might sound simple but it's a great healthy meal, with the right combo of chesees it's better than any salad, very moorish alongside a filling high protein juicy steak. Drinks aren't any more expensive than other places and there is always room to sit, very good service and easy parking. From the good food places in Burton this might be tied 1st with the Italian Waterfront Pub but Miller has better consistency of quality and the service is consistent too. Italian Pub on a good day is like nonas cooking though so it has to be tied. Dont skip M&C

I want to shout out a huge THANK YOU to our server Wez and the chef in M&C Burton for going above and beyond for my 84 year old Aunt’s birthday! She doesn’t get out very often so when we said we’d take her out for a treat she said she’d really love some fish and chips. I spotted the menu on the M&C website which included battered cod and triple cooked chips so we opted to go there this afternoon. When we arrived Wez informed us that the menu shown online was out of date and they no longer served that dish. However she checked with the kitchen and chef was able to serve up the most delicious battered cod and chips and made my aunts day! She also got a lovely extra birthday dessert and she absolutely loved her afternoon. Thank you so much for doing that for her, it meant a lot. And I seriously don’t know why you haven’t got it on the menu any more as it was very good!

Me and my Mrs came here for her birthday as we’ve been several times before for anniversary’s and birthdays and she’d been wanting it but couldn’t due to pregnancy. She’s a month post partum and we were looking forward to coming again. We always order the chateaubriand with the blue cheese lettuce wedge and peppercorn sauce. The food was as good as always and we enjoyed both starter and main but she’d said that the crème brûlée wasn’t as good due to some parts being warm and others cold. The service however was pretty underwhelming. I’d rang up about 4-5 beforehand and asked if the occasion could be made a little special with a little birthday dessert possibly and I’d asked for a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon ready on the table for her and it was noted by the staff member on the phone and said she’d sort it. When we arrived, no wine on the table. No bother, we ordered one anyway. We ordered food at the same time as drinks as we know exactly what we want and have the same everytime. It was a bit of a shock though when the food turned up before our drinks and were both from hospitality ourselves so it was a bit of a shock and disappointment to us that this occurred. Once again brushing it off because of the nice occasion. There were no more issues then until we were offered dessert menus and we decided we were interested and would have a look. Our server then didn’t come back to us for at least 10-15 mins to take a dessert order. We’re not complainers by all means and we can understand what it can be like sometimes but all the little bits adding up just made us feel a bit disappointed and underwhelmed with the service but want to reiterate that the food was as good as...

I never usually leave bad reviews but this time unfortunately I feel I need to. We booked a table of 7 last night for my son’s 18th birthday. Obviously with it being a celebration I had high expectations. When we arrived we got the menus etc but our 8 year old was not given a children’s menu. We asked for one but it didn’t come so we ended up going to get one ourselves. Drinks came and all was ok. We were then left ages before we ordered our food, to the point where we had to ask. We then wanted to order drinks, no staff walked past at all so we had to go up to order. The wine came, 2 bottles which are not cheap. The lids were both left on the bottles, plonked on the table and not even asked if we wanted it pouring. The white bottle had no towel around it so it dripped everywhere when trying to pour it. The sharing starters came, which we were not given any side plates for so that was awkward and we did not see any staff to ask for them. The mains came ok, but there was a large delay between the child’s meal and the adults, so he has nearly eaten his by the time ours came out. At the end of the evening we were asked if we wanted desserts or the bill. Rude and unexpected.

From an establishment that is supposed to be prestigious and sets themselves above other restaurants, the service was totally disappointing, it lacked attention to detail and consideration. I expected to have excellent service as well as excellent food from somewhere that is not cheap to eat at. It’s not too much to ask really. So overall a celebration that should have been a great experience for my son was ruined by the service and that’s the main thing we remember from the evening, not the actual...

I visited whilst over on business in Burton-on-Trent, with colleagues.

My Husband & I ordered the 3-course meal for £34.95.

The cauliflower wings were nice, the medium rare rump steak I ordered was over cooked & was very well done. I swapped with my Husband as his Sirloin Steak was undercooked - half of it was medium rare, the other half was well done. The camembert mash was delicious, however, the vegetables were well undercooked & too hard to cut & the mangetout were burnt to a crisp; inedible.

A few of us at the table didn't understand the Wedge!? It was literally a 1/4 piece of a whole lettuce with parmesan cheese grated over it, which I didnt eat. It was totally pointless & didn't add, nor match, the dish I was eating at all.

The baked cheesecake was lovely & we took that home as we couldn't manage it.

Our young Waiter was absolutely brilliant, couldn't fault him! His fellow waiting staff should definitely take a leaf out of his book for sure! I dropped my steak knife on the floor & one of the other waiting staff picked it up & put it back on my table for me to use, as opposed to getting me a new one.

I enjoyed some of the food & some not so much. I'm not sure if I would eat there again if I am honest but if I did, it would be on a Wednesday or Thursday when the 3-course deal was on. I definitely wouldn't pay the...
