Visited on a Saturday evening, as part of a work birthday outing. Booked the table in advance as there were a lot of us, and pre-ordered the majority of our food to help the kitchen out. I ordered from the set menu - 3 courses for £27 - prawn cocktail, pollo fiorentina and tiramisu. Normally with a set menu, the portion sizes are on the small side, but this was not the case! There was a mountain of prawns for my starter, served with some salad and a Marie Rose sauce - perfection! The pollo fiorentina (chicken topped with spinach and mozzarella, with a tomato sauce) was perfect. It came with chips, but I didn't try them as I was worried about running out of room! The best course was the dessert - I couldn't go out for Italian food and not have tiramisu! A generous square of tiramisu, served with some ice cream and chocolate sauce. Gorgeous flavours, velvety texture - one of the best I've ever had. I would recommend to anyone that visits to try it, but don't wear anything pale, as the cocoa dusting has a tendency to get everywhere! At the end of the evening, we were allowed to pay separately for what we had ordered (rather than splitting the bill between us), and this was done fairly quickly (there were 16 of us...) and we could pay by card or with cash. Staff were really helpful and attentive. Atmosphere was lovely - felt quite homely and authentic. Everything was clean and presentable. I really must...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying this place. To start I will say the setting is very nice and I enjoyed the decor. The desert (Eton mess sundae) was incredible and by far the highlight of the visit. However the start(mushrooms and bacon in blue cheese sauce) was very bland in fact the only thing I could really taste was the garlic, the bacon was anaemic not how you’d expect it to be cooked. The main (Calzone) was almost entirely filled with spinach almost no meat and the few bits of ham I had were chewy and undercooked for mine and my tables opinion, I couldn’t even eat it as I would say it was the worst calzone I’ve ever had. The chips were horrible we ordered 3 portions for my table and apart from a few people tried they were all left. Now for the service, although everyone was very friendly and polite we we’re waiting for a long time in between corses( 45 minutes- 1 hour between each course ) for the quality of the food that just isn’t acceptable. Price wise if the food was better they would be reasonable but for what you get it’s overpriced. This is not just my opinion as I gathered feedback from my table of 6. One saving grace is my brother said it is usually better. I have awarded 2 stars one for the desert and one for the decor/setting. I would highly recommend changing the food recipes as every other Italian restaurant I have been to serve far superior food with the exception of...
Read moreWe visited this resturant for the first time on saturday 16th of january and right from the off was totally impressed by the whole experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive nothing was too much for them. We was welcomed very friendly and shown to our table. We was given ample time to browse the menus and choose our drinks even let us sample a bottle of wine and when my fiancee didnt like the bottle took it away and swapped for another one without any questions they was more than happy to swap it so we could both enjoy our wine with our meal. Now onto the food well we decided after much debate to go for the set 3 coarse meal deal. The food was absolutly outstanding the portions was ample (infact more than i expected from previous experiences of set deals.) Their was plenty of choice on the set menu to choose from. I couldnt of hoped for a better experience. The food was tasty full of flavour and cooked to perfection this along with the staff and service is why i have chossen to give a 5* review if i could i would give 10*. well done to the management and staff for such an outstanding service and food at a very resonable price. We will definatly without a doubt be returning...
