I went to this Pub as it was my very first time in Burton to see what the area and people are like before moving here. I bought two drinks and while I was there things were going great. Nice and clean, seemingly friendly people compared to other places though I never got to speak to anyone. I have Asperger's so sat in the corner and never really socialised, kept to myself and didn't bothered people. I went to the shop around the corner to pick up a few things and came back for one more drink before heading off. Got to the bar and was told to leave as 'I was upsetting people' how rude!..I don't understand how I could have upset anyone considering I was on my own with no interaction and wasn't acting what people would call awkward like people sometimes can think with autism, just quiet. It would have been more polite to be honest and say if I was wearing the wrong clothes etc, ANYTHING that could have justified that. There was no justification and that's why you chose to be rude instead. I understand that a pub has the right to serve whoever you want but why upset people in the process, why not just be honest to save the other person's feelings rather than make me feel like I did wrong somehow..I left feeling really upset that I possibly upset people not knowing how or why. I was not drunk, I was not creating a scene, I am a grown woman with 3 adult children so wasn't even what you would consider a young person/crowd. The Lady who works there was so rude with how she handled it. I didn't say anything..I just left and never questioned it, I was told to leave so I left. Maybe it's because I wasn't a local?..my disability didn't fit your scene and sensed the awkwardness? I can't think of anything else that it could have been, I'm a sensitive person and left upset that possibility I ruined someone's night.. I was taken by surprise as it's never happened to me before. I went because of...
Read moreBank Holiday weekend and me and a group of friends enter this pub at roughly 10pm. Walking in I was unsure it was open as it was completely empty, we ordered our drinks and sat down, whilst enjoying our drinks and chatting away I realised why this pub was so empty. Whilst talking the odd swear word was said to which the landlady/staff immediately shut us down for swearing and in an aggressive tone. You can imagine our shock and a member of our group did retaliate by saying there are no kids/family in the pub, just us so why is it a problem. We were met with aggression and asked to leave. I completely understand the landlord /landlady can ask anyone to leave there premises but for a swear word, in a pub.... Especially one I the middles of town is ridiculous. I completely understand why this pub was empty, very rude people running it and completely unreasonable. My advice to anyone thinking to go to this place is don't bother, no where near a proper...
Read moreAnother excellent pub in Black Country Ales smallish pub chain. Was last in Burton in 2011 and don't recall visiting this pub then (or maybe wasn't under BCA tenure). One of the best traditional freehouses in Burton. Full BCA range of beers available plus a couple of guests and some keg. Had I not been on a pub crawl would have stayed longer. 👍 for bar staff operative LEAH (did I get the name right?) who coped admirably with an influx of our coachload plus no doubt others from the National Winter Ales Festival on the same day. Marking overall review down by 1 ⭐ as the ham and cheese cob wasn't the best - was a bap with processed ham - for reference point please contact the Windmill Inn in Rugby - another of your chain ❤. Overall, thoroughly ...
