Is the Last Heretic the worst micropub in Britain? Probably, definitely the nothing to enjoy the three times that I have visited that's for sure.
The owner is one of the most arrogant self opinionated landlords I have ever met, more interested in running this micropub for himself and his friends than as a pub for the people and visitors of Burton on Trent.
On the three occasions I visited there was only a maximum of three real ales to choose from (the last visit only two) the ale was very cold and overpriced compared with other pubs in the town. Nothing inspired me to stay or come back.
The toilet was a bit of a mess and I certainly would not eat the pork pies given the way I saw them being served.
I have to say that I am a fan of the micropub, just not the Last Heretic, please avoid and try other better places...

It's a very small place, but offers a larger outside seating area in the back; the latter (as you can see on my pictures) isn't the most comfortable though. There's a tiny bar with a big guy behind it who will help you with the selection. All real ales are up on a chalk board, with ABV and price per pint. The prices for ale here are very competitive, around UKP 3.50 a pint. The beers are fresh and well-kept (in a little chamber behind the bar, directly from the cask). The good range of beers makes this a place...

We had a booking at a restaurant up the road and had initially only intended to go in for one but ended up chatting to the owner (I have forgotten his name unfortunately) and ended up having a second. We had a right laugh with the owner chatting about his passion for golf (a passion I share!). If we end up back in Burton we will definitely visit again as it was a...
