We walked from Carlton Marshes to The Wherry/Castle Carvery. This particular one is inside The Wherry Hotel in Oulton Broad. It is very welcoming, open and clean. There are a few areas you can sit in, there is the bar area, which has comfy seating eg. Sofas and chairs. There is a restaurant area (near a carvery) and there is seating overlooking the beautiful view of the broads. There is also outside seating (with parasols and patio heaters) for those summer days and nights, where you can watch the sunset over the water or watch the yachts. There is plenty of food on offer and a great selection of drinks. This restaurant is great for any age group. You can reserve a table or just turn up. There is a breakfast menu/ lunch and dinner. A massive carpark accompanies the restaurant and hotel, which is free. It is easy to find and great for wheelchair access. The food and drink is well priced and of good quality. There is vegetarian and vegan options as well. You can use cash or card here. There is no dress code as such, but it is a nice place so I would always advice smart-casual. The staff are lovely and helpful. Food has to be ordered at the bar but is brought...
Read moreWent back here after having a good carvery a few days ago..gave them 5 stars that time ...this time my wife and kids wanted a meal from the menu ....I wish we'd stuck to the carvery ... Took an hour and ten minutes to get our food and my fish pie thing was dry as were the desiccated carrots and peas , I can only guess my food was plated hours earlier and left on a warmer...only just edible.... trouble was I was starving hungry by then so just ate it ...but didn't enjoy it at all.... My son's meal was only slightly better with its meager portion of chips.. you'd only just have neaded two hands to count the chips ...I guess they were running short of spuds... however my wife and daughters curries looked ok .....If I go here again If stick to the Carvery ...it's clearly what they're geared up for .....they have only just earned 2 stars this time due to the nice Oreo ice cream sundae...
Read moreWent for a carvery, the food was acceptable didn't really stand out from any other carvery out there. The meat portions were quite tight in comparison with other carvery's nearby. Being disabled I found that to go from the hot plate to the seating area included stairs (this being part of a particular problem area for me) I needed my wife's assistance to get sat down. We both don't drink alcohol and find a lime and soda quite refreshing during our meal time, when we paid for it I found it to be amongst the most expensive restaurants for such a cheap drink. Talking about pricing unfortunately there are cheaper options available for the same level of produce. We do go back occasionally, this is only due to the fact that we have never had to wait to be seated unlike other establishments, so its only really down to our time restrictions otherwise we probably would...
