Stumbled on this restaurant as I was visiting Lowestoft on business.. the building is on the start of a row of stores and offers an nice outside seating area too. I dined in the front section table for one of course.. the vibe was very family orientated which was lovely. Ordered the garlic butter chicken wings and for my main beef brisket and rib combo with fries. Now the wings were ok I’ve had better smoked wings before so i’d give them a 2/5. The main now mmmm I don’t know if I was afán of having my meat smothered in BBQ sauce it was not marinated into the meat but added as an after thought so it took away the taste of the smoked meat. The brisket wasn’t great and the ribs where way over cooked and it was like the sauce was hiding the burnt.. I think as a recommendation ask people if there want the BBQ sauce on the side. I’d say 1/5 for the meats, 3/5 for the fries and 3/5 for the slaw and 1/5 for the corn (not good) The staff where lovely and friendly. Maybe I went on a bad day but as a veteran meat eater I was disappointed.

What a superb BBQ diner at the heart of Lowestoft! The staff were very nice and friendly. We've had a fantastic meal at The Copper Smokehouse this evening. Initially, I was thinking to try the beef brisket when I first saw the menu. To my surprise, the staff has also introduced their special menu to us with different fish dishes, pork and venison on the menu. I wanted to try them all but decided to go for the venison and mushroom fricassee with spinach and egg spaetcles. The homemade pasta was made to perfection with tender venison pieces and a beautiful mushroom sauce - it really was special! The beef short ribs that my husband ordered was also very tasty! After dinner, we've had the pleasure of watching the gorgous sunset at Nicholas Everitt Park which is a couple of minutes walk from the restaurant.

Just had the most amazing lunch with my partner. The staff were so friendly and very attentive. I am gluten free and was please to see there was a Gfo for bread. I ordered the chicken and maple cured bacon with cheese which comes with fries and salad. Oh wow it was incredible! The bread was homemade and the filling was very generous. The chips were cooked perfectly and the salad was tasty. You may have to wait a little for the food but everything is freshly cooked and 100% worth it. So good for just £8! We both decided to share the chocolate brownie dessert with salted caramel ice cream and it did not disappoint!! Very rich and indulgent. So nice my partner wanted to lick the plate. 😅 We will definitely be returning in the future! Thankyou for a great experience.

Edits Comment to this review is exactly the reason why we left this review👍 you can’t shame people who don’t want to use their public platform or have no public platform at all not everyone has social media take criticism otherwise don’t have a Google Maps where people can leave reviews of the experience in the restaurant.🙄 we felt like this because that’s how we felt on the day and I’ve worded it in the nicest way possible. my steak/meat was covered in barbecue sauce and it was smothered it was unbearable to eat. The only thing that was nice was the chips and the coleslaw I usually leave 5 star review but this was not worth a five star review because of the behaviour beforehand and the behaviour and the surrounding vibe it just felt so uncomfortable and two people feeling like that you can’t make two people feel like that and expect people not to say Something. how dare you say Well I have to speak to people like this because they have learning disabilities and this is the only way that they would learn. I have learning disabilities and the other people that came with me to your restaurant have learning disabilities too, and we wouldn’t want to be spoken to like that other people that we know wouldn’t wanna be spoken to like that either who has learning disabilities it was disrespectful full on you don’t like criticism don’t have a Google Maps page where people will leave how they felt and how you made them feel.. You do not deserve a restaurant if you’re going to speak to people disrespectfully on the phone and then make people feel uncomfortable in your restaurant with the attitude. I personally didn’t like it. The other people didn’t like it. Wtf if I wanted a Karen experience I would go to a Karen’s diner. I wanted good food. I was given half of that. 🙄 expect to have reviews with people saying the truth if you don’t like it don’t have a restaurant but it’s disrespectful trying to say well you have a fake page -everyone has a page where they wanna be anonymous or everyone has a page where they just don’t use social media not everyone is a social media addict-🙄 everything in that place was expensive even the takeaway boxes even if someone wants to cancel every single thing if you’re going to make a place so expensive make it classy make it satisfying make a environment where it’s pleasant and friendly. Don’t tell people well “that’s not how you felt. That’s a lie because you’re a fake account. Is this even an honest review”🙄👍 that’s why we left the review. Don’t like it. Well you know what That’s how we felt we had to leave and not even get desert because of the way we were treated and the way we were made to feel that’s how we felt end of conversation, appreciate our feedback and work on it.👍 most restaurants who don’t have attitude problem don’t really care but clearly what we said has hit a nerve and it’s clearly true you wouldn’t reply with such an attitude if it wasn’t we were made to feel like that appreciate we said something and don’t be disrespectful to your customers because we won’t...

From the moment we book this meal it was absolutely carnage, two of us are fussy eaters but wasn't missing out on our friends birthday meal so asked for chicken stripes and chips, the manager then complained because two of us wanted the same meal not that it should make a difference, anyway as we arrive the staff like as miserable as you can get and as if they don't want to be working there, wouldn't even say one of them cracked a smile either! We went on to order a drink and the birthday girl asked if they did pink gin to what they answered ' yes' we went on to order our drinks but as they come over no gin glass and tasted absolutely awful we asked the other girls to taste and they all agreed! When we went up the manger was rude and abrupt about it and you could tell she wasn't willing to help, they were all talking amongst themselves about us which for one isnt professional and for two is just rude , we had to go on to order another drink where I said ill have a coke please and she replies yesh Pepsi! There's a difference between them so I said thats okay ill have lemonade and blackcurrant to which she tutted and rolled her eyes, the food for me was absolutely disgusting my chicken stripes smelt like cheese and I found the waiters beyond rude leaning over us to grab our plates... where really should of said excuse me and waited for everyone to finish! I can say I will not be returning and the only time they were happy was taken our payment and locking the door behind us.

EDIT-- I think maybe you should take a look at your workers face and ask yourself the question because I can assure you they are all miserable, secondly for the chicken stripes you are incorrect my weekly shops from asda I'm afraid! And for someone eaten it in pretty sure they smelt absolutely horrendous aswell as tasted! Coming from the two customers who had them, happy to tell us it was pepsi and not coke but not happy to tell us it wasnt a normal pink gin until we returned it back, i just feel you ruined everyone's night and that's on you, as long as you got your money you were happy! Keep your miserable staff and disappointing restaurant as we won't...

I'll start with the good bit, I had the toffee apple crumble for desert and it was delicious. My main issue with this restaurant is their cancellation policy and lack of remorse surrounding it. I will agree that the terms and conditions are on their website below the link you click to book but depending on what device/browser you use the terms and conditions don't show up in the first page meaning you would have to scroll past the booking link to read the terms and conditions which I wager very few people do. I suffer periodically with migraines and I never know when one will happen, on the morning of my booking I woke up with a bad sickness inducing migraine so my wife cancelled the table as early as possible but still breached their 24 hour notice policy, so my wife was charged £40. We rang up to explain that it was due to an unpredictable medical reason but were sniggered at by the manager who just said it was policy so the charge would stay. We asked if we kept the table could we put the £40 towards our bill which the manager agreed to. The young service staff were really polite and friendly, the food came out barely warm, but knowing how a complaint is dealt with I couldn't be bothered to say anything, there was plenty of food but it's quality does not match that of nearby restaurants that serve similar food at a cheaper price. I would never go back to this restaurant and I certainly would not recommend it based on how we were treated. I understand the frustration they could have from a no show but £20 per person is extortionate in my opinion as we had tried to cancel 4-5 hours in advance especially since there was a lot of empty tables in the restaurant. I've double checked the law on booking and a penalty can can only be charged if a loss is incurred and we should have been given the option to rebook the table for a different date, which we were not. If you are going to book I recommend you book on your credit card so The Copper Smokehouse would have to fight your credit card company for the money if they try and charge you an unfair...
