Edit: Appalled (but not surprised) to see that many people have shared a similar experience here and that the owners take to reviews to defend their behaviour with passive aggressive and condescending remarks and zero compassion or concern. As someone who works in a customer facing role, I wouldnāt dream of speaking about/to/over my customers spending their hard earned money at my establishment. Donāt get me wrong, the general public are hard work but there is definitely a trend here! I truly hope the owners reflect on how they interact with their customers (because Iām not even sure they like people at this point). Spend your money somewhere they will be pleased to see you - not dampen your mood for the day šš»
I donāt enjoy leaving bad reviews and I love to support small and local businesses, so I donāt do this lightly, but itās the second time Iāve left feeling unwanted thanks to poor hospitality at Beanzz.
I called in today to meet my sister and her boyfriend who had already bought drinks (and received them) and were sitting in the garden out back. When I arrived, she was at a two person table, so we moved across the garden to one that could accommodate the three of us.
When I went to the counter to order my drink, the male owner said to the female one about to serve me, āweāre going to have to enforce people not moving tables⦠table 16 have moved to 20 for some reasonā. He sounded inconvenienced and Iām sure it was quite obvious to him that I had just moved from that table with my sister. Considering I knew that I was about to be asked by his colleague what table I was sitting at for my drink order, it made me feel uncomfortable.
Once Iād paid, the female owner serving me then felt it necessary to tell me not to move tables again. Completely unnecessary given that the two of them had just had this conversation across me before I was served. We sat and finished our drinks feeling unwelcome. For context it was early on a Sunday at the cafe was half full at best.
Iāve been coming to Beanzz for years for their great food and (usually) enjoyable atmosphere - but recently it just feels like they have forgotten the value of good customer service.
I appreciate that to run a busy and successful business you have to manage tables etc efficiently but not to the detriment of good service (or basic human decency). Beanzz you lost three repeat customers today. Maybe...
Read morePopped in for a bite to eat as I liked the lampshades and was comforted by how busy the establishment was. Nicely decorated and well appointed, we grabbed a table and checked out the menu, full English £14.20 for me and a veggie breakfast for my wife at £14.20, with a couple of lattes at £7+ The veggie option has Avocado, my wife's not a fan so that was removed. The full English comes with black pudding and sausages, I dont like either and requested them to not be served, I did however ask for a bacon as a replacement, and was told in a sharp manner "I WILL be charging you for the bacon, so do you still want it?" Now at £3.00 for an extra slice this full English is coming in at £17.20 without a drink. It had better be good. Prices Additional Sausage £3.20 Additional Bacon £3.00 Additional Black pudding £2.80 Additional Avocado £3.90
We removed £9.90 according to their retail prices. Having the audacity to charge a customer another £3 with a straight face is beyond me. That's my first gripe
The food is not all that, served in what looks like a dog food bowl. I STRONGLY suspect the majority of which had been microwaved. Poached eggs are a dead giveaway as were the mushrooms. Precooked bacon then zapped too. The bread was very good though so they definitely have a toaster. My wife left her veggie sausages, she actually removed the partially chewed substance with a tissue, not something I can ever recall her doing in 30 years of marriage.
The staff were friendly enough, although I get the impression that they'd rather you ate and left ASAP. They have strict rules in this place with regards to devices and hey I'm not complaining, I think to many people hug a coffee, taking up tables whilst working away from the office. It must really hurt turning customers away. But in this day and age its a brave policy non the less.
I think the staff could do with retaining to talk directly to their team leaders, rather than shouting their toilet needs across the dining floor!
I should have read the other reviews before entering :( much nicer establishments within...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNote, I went here about a year ago so the ownership may have changed. To preview this lengthy review, I'll say that our experience consisted of being yelled at by the owner due a miscommunication of our order. We requested changes due to a food allergy, but received an order that would have caused a severe allergic reaction (i.e the wrong order). Mistakes happen and we calmly asked for a new order. However, we were forced to pay for this order and an replacement order we received. We opted to do so, since we spent 30-1 hour waiting to be seated, due to it being an extremely busy at the time. While paying for both orders was unfortunate, our rating is based on our treatment by the owner, who yelled at us for several minutes due to the mistake the kitchen made. It was shocking, and I've never been treated so poorly in an establishment.
Context: Went during the afternoon and it was extremely busy. You order at front and we had to scream our order to be heard due to how many people were there. The owner, I believe took the order and repeated it to us, but it was so loud there was bound to be a miscommunication and there was.. We ordered a bendict with some modifications, due to an allergy and after waiting a bit at our table we received the wrong order. We asked for a replacement. The waitress was polite, understanding it was loud and miscommunication was possible. She took the food back to see if the kitchen could redo it. However, the owner came back to us,clearly frustrated angry and accused us of not telling her of the changes, so convincingly we even considered it, and then told us that the kitchen spent so much time preparing the order (One benedict) that we would need to pay for a new one. She looked us in the face and repeated several times "didnt I repeat your order twice?". We hadn't even asked for a discount or anything, only for us to potentially not die from a food allergy and make the change. It was embarrassing and humiliating be berated for a miscommunication. Honestly, I wanted this long to post the review out of shock of...
