This bistro has changed hands a few times over the period of COVID and had lost its 5* reputation as a result. My wife and I enjoyed visiting Mamma Mia and would regularly eat there for brunch, lunch and dinner a few years ago but were put off by it changing hands a number of times over the past 2 years. However, we visited today encouraged by it returning to its Italian bistro heritage and it didn’t disappoint. An enjoyable brunch / lunch that was genuine Italian food and tasted like it, in an enjoyable environment with a genuine friendly and welcoming Italian owner which makes all the difference. It’s important that we support quality independent restaurants during this very difficult time so if you’re looking to enjoy the tastes / mood / environment of Italy consider this restaurant high on your agenda.

Cannot tell, how greatfull me and my wife has been, both catering professionals, to find this hidden gem during our visit in Eastbourne. Just wanted to find an authentic, classic little Italian Restaurant for a romantic, healthy simple but brilliant meal. Just look for the feeling, "Surprise us!" Well, they did... Arrived last minute with two crazy Jack Russels, desperate for some quality service. Service was exceptional, food was made with quality ingredients, all fresh, nothing heated up nonsense. Long time ago I didn't feel like the "Eat for pleasure, not for quantity" joy. Absolutely amazing, fresh and fantastic food, with a brilliant service. Well done!

Knew this restaurant had opened and was keen to try because the menu was not like the typical carbonara and Bolognese American Italian restaurants. The restaurant was not big but cosy and service was friendly. We didn't book but they gave us a nice table and we got stuck into a Main and a pizza to share. The pizza was one of the best I've had in Eastbourne and I had homemade ravioli which was light and tasty. We had coffee and cannoli to follow which were stuffed with pistachio. Overall, this restaurant is amazing value compared to the others in Eastbourne, and I will definitely go again.

Brilliant experience. Front of house was friendly and chatty and very welcoming.

Food was excellent. Four of us went and had the complementary dough balls (special offer; free with a main) and they were freshly fried, moreish, and served with a tomato sauce.

Mains were (sorry I can't remember the names of the dishes!) the vegan burger and fries, a pizza with added meatballs, the white fish with green beans and chickpeas, and thick toast with tomato sauce and fried eggs.

The burger was lovely: stuffed full with a vegan burger patty, cheese, cooked red peppers, lettuce, and tomato on burger buns made out of pizza dough, served with fries. The pizza was handmade (of course!) And deliciously fresh and melty. The white fish was seasoned just right, and the chickpea sauce had a slight curry-ness to it, while the green beans were almost like fries - we could have had a bowl of just those and been happy! Lastly, the toast with tomato and eggs hit the spot as a lunch time dish.

Drinks were sweet iced tea (made from Lady Grey tea 😋), English breakfast tea, black coffee, and still water.

Would absolutely recommend for anyone in need of good Italian food, a welcoming dining experience, and great atmosphere while...

Awful service. Waited ages to order after being offered popadoms and dips( extra cost) then waited ages for stater nearly 20 min after that watching waiter take away wine glasses despite ordering wine !!!we waited nearly 40 min for main. We watched others get served and leave . Asked why we waiting so long, they said ypu had starter!!???? When maon arriv3d we asked for saffron rice ,this was mini bowl of plaon basmati with dried onion not yellow tinged flavoured saffron rice. We had to also aske for cutlery to eat our food as not replenished after starter. We staryed to complain only for the whole team to come to our table and become aggressive and deney any of our points of view. Even contradicting themselves. When i asked to move away from other diners to a quieter place placing my hand on the chefs arm he raised raised his arm at me ans saod we notjing to hide. I saod to my partner pay and lets leave. Over £100 for 2. Told us also dont ever come again. DONT...

Truly confused from where these positive reviews have come from, my partner and I decided to order from this restaurant as Pomodoro e mozzarella was closed, We ordered the Gnocci in pecorino sauce, 4 formaggi pizza, calamari and a mozzarella pizza with chicken and fries as a side.

We were truly horrified with the taste of every dish - they were beyond salty and looked like they had been taken out of the freezer and dashed in the oven. The gnocci was the biggest disappointment, it tasted like there was half a bottle of table salt in there, and it was not in a creamy sauce like it stated on the menu. The fries were soggy and oily, The 4 formaggi pizza was not a pizza but instead a triangle shaped garlic bread.

We were truly let down by this meal and it was definitely a waste of money, we had ordered it for collection.

Such a shame as we read the reviews and thought we should give a local...
