Updated Review After our last below par visit 11 months ago for a sharing roast, we thought we’d give it another go. What a contrast. The young man who served was polite and efficient and the roast was perfect. Fluffy roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, with cheese. Crispy but fluffy Yorkshires. Edible stuffing. Perfectly cooked medium/medium rare beef, juicy roast chicken and tasty ham. Great veg and gravy.Pigs in blanket on another level. Plenty of food for two. What was not to like. My 3* has now as should be gone back up to 5* Well done guys, we’ll be back Photo from this visit

Previous Review Sharing Roast- We’ve visited many times and had a great experience with great food. BUT today what went wrong? We were phoned to see if we wanted to come in earlier 5pm as they were quiet, so we went an hour earlier, the restaurant had 3 large family parties who were just finishing their mains. Once seated it took a while before drinks orders were taken we had to order our food even though not asked by the young man. When our food did arrive it was pretty disappointing. The cauliflower cheese was waterlogged (no cheese sauce) the roast potatoes had been cooked for so long they had dried out to practically nothing inside, the Yorkshire pudding was hard and cold and stuffing solid rubber. On a good note the beef was perfect and chicken moist. We had the sharing crumble which we were told was apple and blackberry but what came was the thinnest layer of berry compote with barely cooked crumble on top. Considering it wasn’t busy the staff spent more time chatting than looking after their guest. Couples were waiting for a while to be seated before being noticed. One even left. If we had come an hour later as planned how dry would the food been then. Yes we should have complained at the time, maybe we would have if a staff member had come back and asked if...

Tricky one this and I already know I’m going to annoy many that read this review including the proprietors.

So, recently had brunch and, as usual, the food was beyond excellent, beautifully prepared, presented and reasonably priced. Staff, friendly and cheerful…….what’s not to like you may ask?

The restaurant is dog friendly; I am not a dog lover. If, however other people wish to cuddle, caress and otherwise embrace their fur babies whilst eating that is entirely up to them and none of my business

What is my business however is when the waiting staff decide to “tickle the tum” of their four legged customers or have a canine “lick wash” and five minutes later appear carrying food for the human customers. In this particular instance I was served by someone who had not (to my knowledge) been in contact with the dogs but I did witness others who, to be fair, were clearly not bothered. The waiting staff may well wash their hand after these interactions in which case, good on ‘yer but I was still left with a sense of unease hence the two star rating, otherwise it would have been 5

I know I have a choice of restaurants. I know that others do not view dogs in the same way that I do. I consider myself tolerant of other people’s wishes and practices but in this case I would have declined my meal had it been delivered by someone who had previously been petting a dog.

Apart from that it was...

I had been looking for a small and intimate venue for a breakfast meeting and team building morning so I contacted the Perch, and I’m so glad I did! From start to finish Rosie from the management team was friendly and accommodating, with bespoke menu choices and all dietary needs catered for.

On the day, I arrived to set up early, Rosie and the whole team couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly, professional but also relaxed - just what was needed.

The breakfast bap buffet bar was a total hit! The food was exceptional quality, plentiful and really well received- those hash browns were next level! Tea, coffee and juices were also provided. My staff team couldn’t have been happier!

As for the venue itself, it comfortably fitted my 100 staff team members. It was spotlessly clean and the disco button in the toilets was a big hit! The venue sits right on the Princes Park lake and with its large glass doors, it was a beautiful place to be on a sunny day.

Thank you to Rosie and her team at The Perch for making a really important day very special.

From all of the newly amalgamated team at West Rise...

After coming here for the past year as a returning customer, tonight’s service was quite frankly terrible. The food came out very quickly but not to a good standard and most certainly not to a standard we have had before. After finishing the food we were left with empty boards and plates in front of us for over half an hour. When our plates were finally taken away, we asked for a dessert menu, only to be told that the kitchen was shut. Surely, for the sake of good business you would let a customer know that the kitchen is closing if they wanted to order more food. Also remove empty plates quicker! While we were sat waiting the staff were chatting and laughing amongst themselves, and to top it all off the state of the toilet was abysmal! I think it speaks volumes about a business when the customer has to go to the harvester for a pudding.

This was a fantastic dining experience in a beautiful environment. The restaurant has been recently refurbished and looks stunning. It was hard to choose from the wide range of delicious food on the menu. We all ended up opting for pizza, which was freshly prepared in an open kitchen, beautifully thin and crispy, and loaded with toppings. The margheritas had a generous sprinkle of shredded fresh basil which was great. The aubergine pizza was very tasty and the carbonara pizza was superb. Highly highly recommended. We sat outside and had a peaceful view of the lake with swans gliding past. You can park directly opposite - there's tonnes of space as Fort Fun appears to be closed down, but bear in mind you have to have coins for the parking meter. No card or app payment available 😬
