I have been attending splash point cafe for the last couple of years with my family. The cafe sits in a perfect location in the middle of our walks, we enjoy sitting outside watching the world go by, but this is where the enjoyment ends. We stopped buying food as it's very overpriced and not the best quality, on top of that you can wait for long periods before the food arrives. Looking at other reviews this is a common problem here. The sandwiches are priced at £5.95 for a basic sandwich that could be made at home for a pound. It's simply a sandwich, no additional garnish like salad or some crisps. One lunchtime at 1230 hours I was told they'd run out of bread. Not the best management of a cafe to run out of bread at there busiest part of the day. They sell muffins at £3.50 each, you can get the same ones in Tesco for £1.80 for four muffins. Don't expect any customer services from the staff, they have no idea how to appease customers. Last week I watched a man who stood at the counter for over 10 minutes whilst the 3 ladies behind the counter all turned their backs on him without saying a word and just ignored him. I knew they were busy but it would have taken one of them to explain to the customer that they were busy and would be with him soon, but this doesn't happen. Eventually one of them wrote on a napkin and stuck it on the counter saying there would be a 10 minute delay. Our last food purchase on 22/07/25, I purchased 2 drinks, 2 sandwiches and a muffin and it came to just short of £30. The order came out separately, the muffin was given straight away, then the drinks and eventually the sandwiches. There are numerous cafes around this area now popping up, if Splashpoint want to continue as a business, they need to lower their prices (they would probably sell more) and significantly improve there customer service skills. Otherwise I don't see the cafe have a...
Read moreHad an awful experience with the lady there(seemed like the manager) around late 50s, early 60s, brown hair) 2 carers were sat on the terrace with to children in very big wheelchairs, so my Mum & me asked if the patio door (that's open all summer) could be opened to save asking them to move. She looked, in a disgruntled tone 'what do you want to do. Well, why don't you walk all the way round, come up the other way'. The door is literally open all the time & leads on to the seating area making it easier for the carers & customers to get in. I explained my Mum's got a bad back & carrying hot drinks all the way round was a bit much. In an awful tone 'well you wouldn't have to carry the drinks round would you' me 'but there's people in the way, I'm not going to ask them to move the kids in wheelchairs when there's a door here. Is there a problem?' She grumbled, smirked, muttered. I asked for a refund, in a calm manner, it felt very uncomfortable. She refused, whilst smiling & smirking, said in 20 years she'd never seen such a fuss. I said 'you're being rude & not giving me my money, that's unfair perhaps a local bobby is needed, you're being really not very nice'. The other lady working there burst into tears stating she doesn't want to get arrested, the 'manager' accused me of distressing her autistic worker! She continued to be rude. Didn't difuse it with good customer service & say 'take a seat, or wait outside & we'll sort this'. I actually steppes outside to stop the girls becoming more upset. I went back in to ask for the drinks in a take away cup, the autistic work git worse 'the lady has come back in' the manager still continued to blame me. Having worked with special needs young people, this behaviour isn't how to deal with I. I told her that she caused the problem & left. I feel mortified & so upset. I'll be...
Read moreVisited this cafe with friends who had been before. Lovely location and view. Reasonable outside seating but the area had weeds coming through and looked neglected. I ordered a croissant (£3.15) which I felt was quite pricey. When it arrived, I would describe it as a mini croissant. No more than a mouthful. Refused to accept this at that price and returned it. Staff were reluctant to take it back, but eventually agreed to swap it at no extra charge for a sausage roll (£3.85) which I think is still expensive. Later that day in another cafe, same size sausage roll was £2.00. Having been in catering myself, I know what is good value and good service. I felt I got neither and will certainly take my custom elsewhere next time. This establishment has excellent potential and lots of passing trade, but isn't making the...
