Family mini break to Weymouth, quite a few locals recommended the new Al Molo Dorchester restaurant. What a stunning building and restaurant, we were greeted by Tim and shown to our gorgeous window seat. You know it is going to be good when they are fully booked. The calamari was out of this world (I could have eaten a bucket full) , I had pork loin for main, my daughter had steak that was cooked to perfection and my husband had the pasta dish. We tried each other’s dishes like we always do and joke who has the less appetising one, but I can honestly say they were all as delicious as each other’s, fresh and cooked so well. What also made it a fantastic experience was the staff, we had two younger waiters and they were so professional, polite attentive but certainly not in your face and both interacted with my daughter too. Deserts were they best we have eaten how one chef can be so talented at all courses amazed me (we even had the pleasure of meeting Giuseppe the very talent Italian chef ). Stunning venue, fantastic staff and service but above all the food was right up there with the best! Best recommendation we have ever had and that’s why I have taken the time to post...
Read moreHard Cheese and very rare steak, not very impressed. When we eat for pleasure rather than entertaining we don't expect complaining to be part of the experience, so we don't and we just don't return. Unfortunately the steak and lobster I chose was not the experience expected, no request was made as to how the stake was to be cooked, it turned up very rare, this combined with a cold lobster and finger prints on the cuttelery made the experience unforgettable for the wrong reasons, especially at the price. The Italian cheese board was ordered to compensate for the disappointing main course, no butter for the crackers and one of the cheeses was so hard a grater would have been required to eat it. The staff seemed more interested in a couple who had pre ordered the taster, so pleased we didn't, the staff also gave the impression they were in panic mode and rushed around creating a draught and moving the floor boards as they went. On a more positive note the staff in general were friendly and helpful and the building refurbishment looks to have been carried out to a...
Read moreWe arrived on at 7.15pm on a a wet Monday evening in October, on an unusually quiet street, to this restaurant in a listed timber-framed building. It felt quite Dickensian. Only two other couples in the restaurant when we arrived. Greeted courteously and seated at a table of choice. Selected the set menu for £36 which did not disappoint. I wolfed down the beautifully crafted starter of crab and cucumber. My partner had monkfish in bacon as a main and I had an large (continental sized) medium-rare beef filet with a peppercorn sauce. Chips were very tasty and home made. Desserts were carefully crafted although all pre-prepared. The pistachio cheesecake was some of the best I have ever tasted, but it was too large for my partner, so I finished it off. A glass of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (average) was enough to accompany the meal which was over too quickly.
An absolutely super meal and I would encourage everyone to visit....
