Manager was thicker than the yellow pages.
Our 2nd visit this year and the food was really good.
I ordered and paid at the till to the side of the bar. We were sat on table 34 outside. The food and drinks didn't take long to come (3 pizzas, garlic bread, chips and 4 drinks).
Once we finished our food, we walked inside to use the toilets. Whilst I was walking past the kitchen, what must have been the manager (female, glasses and an oversized blazer that looked like a hand me down) told me I had to pay before leaving. I explained that I had already paid when I ordered. She asked who took the payment and the chap who did, was no less than 4 feet away from us. After I pointed him out so she could verify that I had paid, I was baffled when she said I still had to pay wafting some sort of check at me. I explained for a 2nd time that I paid at the bar when I ordered our food. I even offered to show her my mobile banking app. She said "okay" so I carried on heading to the toilet.
I finished up in the toilet then headed downstairs only to be accosted, AGAIN, by the incompetent Karen who clearly could not grasp the queen's English. She said I had to pay. As I was about to tell her for the 3rd time, the chap who served me showed her the receipt and said, none verbatim, "see he has paid". The apology I received was hollow to say the least and she looked more sour faced than before.
The food didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth, the droning voice of the confused woman, who clearly had no handle on the place.
Absolutely shocking attitude considering I explained to her twice and was very polite to her. I've no idea why she demanding that I pay when I already did.....completely...
Read moreMy recent visit to this restaurant left much to be desired, primarily due to a disheartening level of poor customer service. From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was tainted by an unwelcoming aura, largely stemming from the rude behavior of the staff.
The staff members, unfortunately, seemed disinterested and unmotivated to provide a pleasant dining experience. Any attempts to engage with them were met with curt responses and an overall lack of courtesy. It became evident that a sense of hospitality was sorely lacking, making the entire visit feel more like an inconvenience than a dining experience.
Adding to the frustration was the non-existent table service. It was as if the concept of attentive servers had been completely disregarded. There were prolonged periods of waiting for even the most basic requests, creating an atmosphere of neglect that further detracted from the overall enjoyment of the venue.
The lack of coordination among the staff members was palpable. It felt as though there was a communication breakdown, leading to a disjointed and chaotic service. This not only affected the efficiency of the restaurant but also left patrons feeling neglected and frustrated. After 30 minutes waiting for the illusive table service we walked out.
While the food might have had its merits, the poor customer service overshadowed any positive aspects. It's disheartening when a potentially delightful dining experience is marred by such fundamental issues.
I hope the management takes note of these shortcomings and endeavors to improve the overall quality of service for...
Read moreCame here about a month ago after a long day of hiking. We were quickly seated and given choice of seating, which I always appreciate.
However the servers were not attentive. I had to go to the bar to get someone to take my order and it only got worse. So my partner accidently knocked his drink a considerable amount of my burger and fries soaked and almost all his drink gone.
We were standing up and trying to get dry and no one came to help. We had to go to the bar to get blue roll and were not offered any compensation. I work in customer service and when accidents happen especially when a customer has just gotten their drink it is nice to offer to replace it. Which they didn't do for the food or drink.
I ordered some more fries, which they charged me £7.50 despite me not wanting any of the goats cheese or honey that come with the sweet potato fries. It seems silly they offer plain sweet potato fries for around £4 with the burger but not as a side. It is were my table I would have comped the fries or drink but alas. Even when I brought this to their attention and explained the situation they didn't care or do anything.
For me it is less about the charge and more about the lack of attention we were given. It is quite an expensive place, so we were expecting better quality service.
Anyway...my lamb burger (the half I ate) was lovely and the food came out promptly. The venue has a cool and bustling vibe but just the service really let it down.
Good food but inattentive and unfriendly service. Would...
