Very disappointed by the attitude of a member of your staff. We arrived at your premise on the 16th March 2019 about 22:20, ordered our drinks and looked for an area for us to sit and enjoy the weekend with my colleagues, the main reason for us visiting Ambleside was to celebrate the good news that our friend had survived cancer, we had choosen to sit down in the seated area adjacent to the men’s room only because of the your establishment had no other available seats left, when we were rudely interrupted by Nathen, very bad manners, an attitude beyond comprehension, blind to see that we had not made a mess, we asked to remain but he insisted that we move because these seats had been reserved for the breakfast morning, he then informed us if we didn’t like it then we could leave.I don’t expect anyone to run a business with staff driving away customers.I will not set foot in this public house and will ask my friends to find another establishment to enjoy their evening when the visiting Ambleside. It’s very clear reading the previous reviews that you are having issues that need addressing because as a member of the emergency services I can understand why trouble...
Read moreThis is an honest review of the Unicorn as a B&B.
We have been coming here for the past 20 years to stay when we visit Ambleside. Always been a very friendly bar with clean rooms, and still is. Unfortunately now the noise from the bar on a Friday night is horrific.
Completely understand that music nights are great business... and it shows.. the bar seems busier than ever. The trouble is when you need to go to bed and the tea caddy is bouncing along the shelf because of the bass, and the patrons are shouting at the bar until at least 12:40am, it doesn't make for a very comfortable B&B experience.
It would be Ok if you are young, or on holiday to party. Not ok if you are a family, have kids, or are staying after a very long drive.
I think it would be worth while warning people exactly just how noisy it can be on a Friday night before there stay. Regular bar noise would be fine but the incredibly loud music was too much.
Didn't get to speak to the management this morning, but after staying in this venue for as long as we have, its very sad to say we wont...
Read moreI thought the location of this pub would meet our expectations and because it was dog friendly, please don't just settle for this pub based on this. The food is bog standard to say the least, I make better at home, the beer battered onion rings which they charged £4.50, were the same size and taste you get from Aldis for £1. My husband ordered a Cumberland sausage, which was deep fried and he couldn't even finish because the end was hard and crisped. The chicken burger I had was again, deep fried, hard and chewy and also on a oven bottom muffin not a burger bun! You can tell that the owners are just scraping the bare bones on their standards and quality, purely relying on passing trade, that will never return and charging the most they possibly can. If it was local to me, I would certainly not be going back, which is what I base my reviews on.
Just check the response when the owners get negative feedback, rude and unprofessional!!...
