A group of us visited recently over the weekend. Whilst the food was great the customer service was absolutely awful. We were patronisingly told about the NHS covid app and was being impatient and confrontational despite us telling the man at the door that one of us had it installed and were loading it up on the phone. He simply wouldn’t listen. Then the waitress categorically told a Muslim guest in our group that her food was beef. When asked a second time she said was told that it was indeed pork. Had she trusted the advice given the first time the flying fleece would be getting sued right now! The general attitude of the male who met us at the door and continued to serve us throughout the evening was very unwelcoming. Another guest was taken to the upper seating area and kept waited. She eventually got tired waiting for someone to serve her and choose to leave. To their credit there was a second gentleman who was quite good and took care of us. The customer service is a shame as this place has the potential to be a strong 5*. Also I’m not quite sure about a knife being placed in the middle of my burger!

I had high hopes for a traditional Sunday dinner, but sadly this one fell flat from start to finish. The roast beef arrived lukewarm and was far too tough to cut through easily, let alone enjoy. The Yorkshire pudding looked impressive but was dry and hollow, lacking the light, fluffy texture you’d expect. The vegetables were another letdown — clearly overcooked and mushy, with the carrots tasting more of boiled water than anything else. The roast potatoes, which should be the star of any Sunday plate, were under-seasoned and soggy, missing that perfect crisp outside and fluffy centre. To top it off, the gravy was thin and watery, doing little to bring the meal together. For the price, I expected something far better — at least hot food and basic seasoning. Service was pleasant enough, but even that couldn’t make up for such a disappointing meal. Overall, a forgettable experience and certainly not worth returning for.

A warm welcoming place with delicious food and nice choice of drinks. Perfect after a long rainy day of hiking. The old mill building is very interesting, with nicely adapted interior (and very close to the car park). The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had three nibbles to start (3 for £11 deal, 100% worth it) and they arrived very quickly and were very tasty. We were starving so that was great. The mains were even more delicious! I had butternut squash gnocchi which were awesome but it was a small portion and I think for the price there should be more gnocchi. The steak and ale pie my partner had was delicious too and the gravy and mash were absolutely amazing! We were too full for deserts. We will come back for sure.

Don’t even bother to go here! Rude arrogant staff!!!! We came across this pub on our recent trip to Ambleside and thought it would be a nice place to have a few drinks to celebrate our Anniversary. We walked straight in as there was no queue and no staff greeting at the entrance to escort you to your table. We found a lovely spot and after a long hot day, sat ourselves down. A while later a waitress came up to us and asked us if we had been sat here by someone. I replied that no as there wasn’t a queue, we just found a table. I wasn’t aware that we needed to be seated as there was no sign or waiter greeting you to be seated! She proceeded to give me a filthy look and her response was “ yeah I bet!’ and stormed off to go and clear another table. She didn’t even ask us if we would like a drink!! After speaking to the manager, it seemed he was just as arrogant and there was no sorry about how we had just been spoken to! I was absolutely appalled about the lack of customer service and the way we were treated and spoken to. Just to make it clear ....... There wasn’t a queue. There was no notice at the entrance to wait here to be seated. If we needed to be seated, where were the staff to welcome you at the entrance? Apparently the manager had seen us walk in!!!! yet still no welcome! I do not go out to be treated and spoken to by a woman who obviously has zero manners and is damn right rude and thinks the world owes her a living. We were absolutely disgusted and shocked . However you did us a favour as we found a lovely welcoming little pub and had a great evening in the end! So don’t even bother going here. It’s shocking how customers are spoken to and dealt...

Staff are young and very busy. Popular place to have a quick bite on route. Excellent location as the local shops are right there all around you. Good parking to the rear. Cosmopolitan crowd. Plenty of places to purchase food and drinks. Lots of holiday makers in for the season, Staycation style. Every blessing to receive as you venture out of your comfort zone. Just try saying hello to someone new and watch your life change for the better; As your confidence grows. I know this because I was just like you...yes, I said it! Just like you, my friend reading this review. But I had to learn to push myself out and meet new people and make better friends. Go figure, who knew it could be so easy after being locked away for months on end. Therefore, you must Get up, and dust yourself off and get out of your own head space. One must be friendly in order to make friends. So put on your best smile and come join me here and let us laugh, drink and be inspired....Lol!!! Plan well now and you will not be disappointed...Just remember every blessing belongs to you, yes, I said, "Every Blessing belongs to you but you must want it, and believe you are worthy of change for the good. I now refuse to be beat down by Covid and the negative attitude of others. All that bad stuff that can weigh you down. Take a deep breath and Let it Go ... Do not take it on as it will make one's self sick and negative thoughts start to plague your mind. Get out of your own head space; That the New Better Self can Come Forth IJN ... Every blessing belongs to you and I. Now you my friends...Go claim a Fabulous more Positive and...
