I’ll be as honest as I can. This place was always our no1 when we were visiting York. Last time we ate our fab gyros was back in Feb. We went in today and we’re quite disappointed. I fully understand price increase, everything goes up so it was expected. The new price is £7, which is still great. Sadly the gyros itself shrunk by a good 30%. This is not how you find savings. Chips were also different, rather oily. To sum up, still a great value for money and very tasty. Shame about the size, feel rather cheated.

These gyros are amazing! I have bought the chicken wrap on multiple occasions, and the quality has been consistent. The veggies are all fresh and the meat is juicy. I also ask for some spice. It comes with seasoned fries as well. Compared to other food shops in the Shambles, this place has the best price/food ratio. I highly recommend this place and will continue to be their customer.

More of a rant. I must just be unlucky. Ordered mixed grill platter. Waited about 20 minutes for it, a long time. Two other customers after me were served their orders before i got mine. After opening my order, there was no chicken (should be sausage, gyros and chicken). I must say the chips were good, but the rest are just ordinary. Shame. There are better food choices all around.

Very average Greek food. They take advantage of the fact, that most people don't know what Greek food really tastes like and they serve subpar product. Not bad, but I've had better.

Edit: why? Just because I'm bored. About a month ago the owners did respond to my review. They said the following things:

No where near the same quality since Maria left. Everyone was greeted with a smile no matter how busy they were. Nowadays it’s not the same. Portion sizes are dreadful. Half the amount of chicken, packed more with chips, and the price went up (expected with food supply pricing and cost of living).

I would however expect the same portion sizes as last year. Disappointing.

We won’t be going back again.

It’s difficult to understand where all the 5-star ratings are coming from. We’ve eaten a lot of Greek food in a number of different countries (including Greece), and we were not impressed.

As a side note - I’m very surprised at some of the rude and aggressive responses the owner writes in response to customer reviews. I’m not sure they understand the concept of customer feedback.
