Really sad to see such poor quality to come out. We ordered the prawn pil pil and received a tasteless prawn dish that can only be described as watered down dirt it was tasteless and boring I would have cooked better taste at home and I'm a hair stylist. We also ordered peppers and chilli fried peppers which literally came out tasting off salt like 100% salt and very little chilli. The waiter was nice but the food really was awful. Three glasses of separate wines and each one as disgusting as the rest. Two of the wines tasted like vinegar and petrol combined. I'm not one to complain but this was appalling. To top it off they had young bang bang rave music in a bloody Mexican?? The worlds gone mad enough during lockdown with out these chancers calling themselves chefs!

Update!!!! Just received our bill which we genuinely don't mind paying but what was upsetting was the lady serving us didn't even acknowledge our complaint which was very to the point and polite and constructive criticism if any!! To be totally ignored in our effort to resolve our problem of terrible food. Management in here clearly doesn't care if you like the good or not. Believe me it's bad quality if you've...

Where to begin.... Firstly the place is so friendly the staff are an absolute credit to the business. BEER. The place has a wide selection of craft beer and cans of craft too as well as a single hand pull. They also have a wide range of spirits, so if you're going just for a drink it's definately well catered for. DOG FRIENDLY. All the staff here love the four legged friends and they're welcome throughout. FOOD. A mexican/Spanish tapas style food. I am so stuffed as we finished the lot. Wife is VEGAN and was well catered for. Had a selection of grilled peppers, nachos (with a good cheese substitute), quesadillas, meatballs, guac. All followed up with fab churros that came recommended by the Spanish waitress.

We have had a great time here on both days of our stay here in Ambleside. I would highly recommend for people with dietary requirements who want a warm friendly place to eat and drink with the...

The food here is absolutely delicious, and we really appreciated that they have a dedicated vegan menu with many different options. You even mark the menu separately so there's no risk of confusion with the omnivore menu.

The only real low point was that after our main courses staff asked if we wanted more drinks and dessert, and it was only after we had ordered and received our drinks that we were told they needed our table in 15 minutes (which in the end was more like 10). I appreciate this may have just been a bit of miscommunication between staff but it didn't feel great to be rushed out. We're glad we only ordered a couple of soft drinks that we could take away in the bottles, because if we had ordered alcohol and had to chug it in 15 minutes we would have been rather annoyed!

I still have no hesitation in recommending this place though, as I will definitely be back next time...

The team in this tapas restuarant were happy and casually confident in the jobs. Three of the team on the the bar front had everything and more under control and dealt with the really busy bustle. There weren't any un booked table but we were offered a couple of seats at the side of the bar. We ordered six tapas items off the menu these come as they are made we were told. They were all really nice the cheesy garlic bread was OutstandinG. We 'd been watching the bar man making cocktails and asked which recommended he had a thought and talked about a couple that were good we had a sherbert dip and yes it did taste like you'd had a sherbert dip quite a alcoholic one. The meal was great the team were so good we stumbled upon the Bar es Tapas. We will tell everyone about how good it was. We go back there every time we go back to Ambleside.

Wow—what a fantastic little tapas spot in Ambleside! We had a bit of a mix-up with the booking (our table was for 2 instead of 3), but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Honestly, some of the best customer service I’ve had in a long time. The place has such a warm, rustic vibe—quirky, cosy, and full of atmosphere. Our server was new but absolutely brilliant—super friendly and on the ball. You order by ticking what you want on a sheet, which was a fun little touch and made it feel like a proper shared experience. The food? So good! The calamari and prawns were fab, and the meatballs had a nice spicy kick. It’s got that Mexican tapas twist going on, which really works. And a bonus for me—they had my favourite alcohol-free beer on the menu! All in all, a brilliant night. Thank you!
