Went to the bar to place my order, but the barman informed me that they didn't have what I wanted in the menu as it was sold out. No problem says I, I'll just go back to my table and tell my partner, any way we both go for the burgers, mine the triple with cheese, Maria asked for the single which I'm certain is on the menu . The barman informs me that they don't do the single burger ,no problem says me, I'm sure she can try the double . ( I am still confident that there is a single burger on the menu though) . I order a coffee for myself and a bottle of still water for my partner , the glass for the water is filthy with bits of lemon stuck inside. She takes it back to the very nice and friendly barman and replaced it with a clean one after picking up two more. The food arrives and I have to say that the burgers were absolutely top class, proper beef burgers . Unfortunately I can't say the same for the chips, I swear to Jeasus, they were pure white and I bit into one and it was still semi frozen and it was the same with my partner's. Would I go there again ? Yes for sure, of course that's if management would allow me after this review. Why would I go again? Well first of all I do believe in giving everyone a second chance, it just might have been an off day. Number two, it's a lovely place with a nice atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful . Update, I've visited on a number of occasions since and I have to say things have improved a lot. I would recommend this fine establishment. Now I'll add an extra 🌟 Visited again today 03/12/2023 , it was fairly busy but the place was freezing. I did actually hear people complaining about how cold...
Read moreHad a very bad experience, made poor by a poorly trained rude senior member of staff. Come here with my friends for a quick drink all of us around 23 yrs old plus. I go up first order a beer and was not challenged for ID. My gf who is the same age is then challenged for ID which she didn't have on her.
Confused, I then went up to the bar with my other friend to then be told 'you can't order for the girl or I will ask you to leave'. I then queried why she didn't 'challenge 25' me whatsoever as I am a young looking 23, and clearly not way older. She then proceeds to say 'you look over 25'. When I informed her i was in fact 23 she threatened to take my drink away. I had already drunk part of this unchallenged.
This made zero sense and I would have no issue at all if we were all challenged as the 'Challenge 25' policy should be done, not discriminated against. To argue the point that I look much older than 25 and the other's don't is baffling, to which I said 'you don't make sense at all'.
The member of staff clearly failed in operating the 'challenge 25' policy by allowing a young looking 23 year old, who could be any age, to drink unchallenged. We were then told to leave after arguing a valid point about the situation. You cannot ID one young looking person and not the others, it's point blank rude.
We won't be returning, but I suggest this member of staff actually reads up on the policy and takes training to implement it properly, to avoid discriminating people in the first place. If a number of young looking people come in as a group you ID all of them, not just 1. She also needs to reconsider what people over the age of 25...
Read moreEaster Monday myself my husband and my daughter ate here like we have done on pervious shopping trips to Warrington. We ordered the vegan Thai red curry, mixed grill and sides. Food came out alarming quick, especially for a mixed grill. Sides of fries and onion rings were fine no issues there but the vegan Thai curry was appalling, Luke warm rice and what I would say were hard microwaved soya pieces. Paid extra for a naan bread that wasn’t served, waitress checked when asked and the naan was again brought to us in record speed and had clearly been microwaved and soggy and on the menu it says it’s served with popadoms and spring onions, when we asked where they were we were told they were charged extra, upon re checking the menu it states naan bread is charged at an extra 99p (to which I believe to be a massive mark up on the mini naan that’s been microwaved) but from what I could see the menu suggests the popadoms were included. My husband’s mixed grill was extremely poor, no beer battered onion rings as stated on the menu but that was the least of the worries, chicken was jelly like in the centre, sausage was what we can only think was left over from breakfast, hard and dry. Steak was ordered medium and was completely black and egg was cold and dry. What a huge disappointment and we will not be returning, we have eaten here many times and never had such a poor experience. What a complete...
