Extremely Disappointing Experience – Zero Stars If Possible
Our experience at this restaurant was incredibly frustrating, and I wish I could give it zero stars.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Phil, who asked if there were any available tables. A waitstaff member then escorted us to our table. After we sat down, someone came over to check if we were ready to order. We politely requested more time, which was understandable given it was only 8:42 p.m. and we just wanted a quick snack before catching our train.
We ordered three drinks and a pizza to share. However, as we waited, we felt increasingly uncomfortable due to the hostile stares from the staff. It was clear that we were not welcomed.
Things took a turn for the worse when I asked for the service charge to be removed due to the poor service. Suddenly, the attitude of the staff became even more unpleasant and dismissive.
The only redeeming part of our visit was Phil, the doorman, who was kind and genuinely helpful. It's unfortunate that the rest of the staff didn’t show the same level of professionalism.
To make matters worse, when we returned home and reviewed our receipt, we discovered several items on the bill that we didn’t order. One of our parties tried contacting the restaurant by both phone and email to resolve the issue but received no response. While we acknowledge that we should have double-checked the bill, the hostility from the staff made us just want to leave without any further confrontation.
What’s even more concerning is that the bill was timestamped at 7:00 p.m., despite our arrival at 8:42 p.m. Our pizza arrived at 9:24 p.m. The bill also incorrectly labelled us as “food critics,” which we certainly are not, and included items we never ordered. The total on the bill was £72, even though we had only ordered a hot sunset pizza and three drinks (a mojito, strawberry daiquiri, and piña colada) totalling £47.50.
When we tried to leave, we were stopped twice and then chased out of the restaurant, with accusations that we hadn’t paid. We have our bank statement, which shows otherwise! This behaviour was beyond unprofessional and completely unacceptable.
We strongly advise against visiting this place. We’re now seeking a refund of £24.50 for the incorrect charges. To charge customers for items they didn’t consume and then treat them like criminals is not only dishonest but also unethical.
PATRONS BEWARE!
**UPDATE: 10/03/2025
The General Manager, Mr J A Smith, has responded to the email sent. In the email, there is an apology for how we were treated with the assurance that this is not the standard set.
As per the email, we are currently awaiting a phone call from the 'front of house team' to refund the overcharged amount.
Will update again once the refund is received.
While this does not make our visit any less traumatic, we appreciate GM addressing the issues at hand and correcting...
Read moreA frequent visitor to the bar we decided to book a family meal in the restaurant which needs to be well in advance as the restaurant is always busy, which makes my review all the more surprising. We arrived at 4.40 for 5pm booking to be told table not quite ready. The table was empty from the minute we walked in until we were eventually sat down at 5.20. The table was set for 4 people despite the reservation being for 6 and to be honest the table feels too small and cramped for more than 4 (possibly with kids you could squeeze 6 in). We got off on the wrong foot and patience was wearing thin. After being sat down 20 minutes late at a table not ready for us we were left for at least 10 minutes and so asked to speak to a manager, only to be told they were in a meeting. One did eventually come to the table but didn't apologise just saying everything is sorted now and I will hurry the chef along, because we were going to the theatre! This restaurant portrays itself as high end with prices to match however the feedback on food ranged from excellent for a steak to OK but I have had better for fish and chips. Pizzas are priced about the same as the Italian chains but are nowhere near as good in my humble opinion. The situation with desserts for a Saturday evening was surprising to be given a menu and then a few minutes later to be told we only have 2 desserts and one of those was a special not on there, lemon drizzle cake. I went for the cake at a cost of £8.50 with a couple of raspberries and blobs of lemon curd. Surprisingly no offer of cream or ice cream and so it was very dry and well overpriced. Lots of waiting staff and in the main they were really nice and pleasant once we got over the initial issue.
I don't expect we will return to the restaurant but we do like to pop in for a drink and maybe some bar snacks but sadly not the best meal and experience we have had.
This is an updated review from 2 years ago based on visits to the bar when I gave an overall rating of 4 stars. At the pricier end of Blackpool's range but when the weather is nice its a great spot for a couple of drinks...
Read moreMyself and wife went tonight for evening meal, it had been recommended to us by our hotel. We arrived for our 6.30pm meal, we were looking forward to it, the doorman was very friendly, we were shown to our table, which we asked to be moved from to sit by the window overlooking the sea. That was no problem, there was a DJ playing great background music. We waited about 20 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink! We ordered our drinks, looked at the menu and chose what we wanted. Our drinks arrived after another 15 minutes and then we ordered our food. Our order was sent to the kitchen via a tablet so it was almost instantly received by the chef. Another 15 minutes went by and our waiter came back to us and sheepishly told us that they had no buns for our burgers?? Would we like to order something else? 🤔 we thought this was strange but we thought Oh well, we'll order something else. I ordered a chicken breast escalope, the waiter went away and ordered my chicken. Guess what? He came back to us again, he told us that he was very sorry to say that they didn't have my chicken escalope, he said he was very embarrassed and sorry. We couldn't believe it, we both said No!! And we decided to leave without eating. I have to say that the manager came over to us and apologised to us both and she also said there was no charge for the 2 cocktails we had and a portion of olives. We appreciated this. However, we had to go and find somewhere else to go and eat, we could not go far as my wife was walking with 2 crutches and we were not happy at all. We went back to our hotel and told them about our experience and two other guests from our hotel had gone to the same place as recommended and they walked out as well. We will not...
