I am a disabled person, the disabled toilet in this pub is upstairs, so I used my scooter to go upstairs in the lift. The lift was cramped and there were big tall tables and chairs in the way of the lift which made it extremely difficult to drive the scooter on to the lift. Once I was upstairs there was a huge dresser in the way, so reversing out of the lift was a huge problem! My partner had to lift the scooter so that we could steer it in the right direction even though he too is disabled. While the bar staff stood there chatting! Everyone could see what was going on, but no one came to help! They definitely need to refresh their customer service training!
The upstairs was crowded with tables and chairs. It was impossible to get from one side of the room to the other side of the room, unfortunately the disabled toilets were on the other side of the room. It was impossible to manoeuvre to the other side of the room without bumping into chairs and tables. Once I was finally in the toilets, they were dirty and in an appalling condition.
When I spoke to the deputy manager Tanya she told me that it's never happened before and that's what she kept Reiterating again and again.
Why can't the disabled toilets be downstairs, why is the furniture arranged in such a way that it is blocking the lift?!
I have been severely stressed out with my visit to this pub, staff were rude, and the service was an unacceptable. I will not be visiting this pub again and will tell my friends and family not to bother going to this pub and it is not disabled friendly at all! Don’t bother wasting your time and money going to this pub. Spend your money in the Velvet Coaster, that is lovely, clean Wetherspoons pub with great...
Read moreGreat ale prices and food is excellent most of the time BUT READ ALL MY REVIEW........ If your single and need to visit the loo make sure you leave something at or on the table so the staff May think you have NOT left otherwise you may come back to an empty table like what happened to me ❗ After complaining to bar staff asking where has my beer and food gone ❗ We thought you'd left ❓ I said I've been for a pee only been gone 2 mins ❗ Two guys on next table spouted off saying you should have told staff your going to the toilet WHAT I SAID ‼️ Since when do you have to say excuse me miss/Sir I need to go to the loo to bar staff❗ I said to the two guys, and told them to mind there own business, I then proceeded to leave and was approached by the shift manager and was told I'm barred for two weeks ‼️ WELL I'm 64years old and never been barred from a pub in all my life ❗ But what makes it worse is, you could say is that I got barred for going to the Toilet and not telling bar staff❗ If I had not gone to the loo none of this would have happened ? Well I've barred myself from The Layton Rakes it Will be a long time go into the...
Read morePopped in this afternoon for a drink. Never again!! Service was absolutely appalling, 7/8 people waiting at the bar whilst the duty manager and a team member served one customer! 🤷🏻♂️ there were 5 members of staff stood through a doorway at one end of the bar just having a chat! The team member who was serving one customer came to serve me after she’d finished and the manager walked off and started chatting to the other team members stood at the end of the bar!! By this point there was around 10 people waiting to be served!! 😤 the young female took my order then said something to her manage and walked out of the door! Leaving me bewildered as to who was getting my drink!! The manager looked about 22 and the team members between 18-22. The worst service and experience I’ve ever received in a JD Wetherspoons by far. Kids (the staff & manager) stood about neglecting customers and chatting rather than operating a business and being hospitable and welcoming to guests. The place was a mess too with empty glasses and plates left on many tables!!! Avoid this establishment...
