Visited a couple of times whilst staying on Blackpool at the beginning of December. We went early evening on a Saturday and was surprised by how many people were in there. We just about managed to find a table, I think we were lucky as there was only 2 of us. We saw lots of people coming in and walking out due to not being able to sit. We ordered from the bar the first time which although was very busy, we were served relatively quick. We had a couple of the real ales on offer. Once sat we decided to order some food so I installed the Wetherspoons app. Would definitely recommend the app when it's busy as it was so quick and reliable. Drinks and food arrived within the time stated. We had burgers which were fine for price that we paid. We visited again the following day and again it was extremely busy. I think this is because the one around the corner was ridiculously busy to the point that you couldn't even get in. There is an upstairs in the Layton Rakes where there are more tables, seating and a bar. Toilets are also located upstairs and we're very clean.

It was OK, but food let it down. People knock weatherspoons, all the time. I never go by them normally but I should, as today ,my fish was dry and tasteless. The chip portion was a disgrace, as we're the mushy peas. The fish was ample size but batter was soft ,no crunch at all. The fish it's self was dry and tasteless, plus I had no idea what type of fish it was. I am a lover of fish, any kind. I eat hake, turbot, salmon, cod, haddock, skate and trout, etc. This however was fish but not as I knew it. So very disappointed, but it won't stop me going back, so call me crazy, but I enjoy the service and variety of drinks etc. I should have complained to be honest.

As with most whetherspoons pubs, the food was generally good in here over the whole weekend that we stayed in Blackpool. They had a managers special on which was a choice of about 7 different curries with rice, nan bread, poppadoms and mango chutney - all for £4. the burgers were the usual excellent value for money. Drinks are cheap as with all pubs in this chain at about £2.50 per pint. The way it is all sectioned off for covid is good and the staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. I cant think of anything bad to say about this place and I would like to say thankyou for their service and we will go back there without hesitation next time.

Was advised No steaks or mixed grills to help with smooth running of the pub and so went for 3 small plates and was £16.93 and yet in cleveleys a few miles down the road it’s £14.24. Been coming here since big willys was knocked down and this was built so plenty of pubs offering a good value meal so can clearly see this venue is now aimed at tourists not locals. Ordered burger and chips and bacon absolutely freezing cold and onions burnt and oil needs changing for cooking the chips so all been sent back. What a waste of time this place is now. Sent back and sent back out same food with the bacon now burnt to a crisp as shown.

Food is for breakfast is nearly £7 and food is couple of quid dearer, compare to Preston Wetherspoons £3 on promotion and £5 on normal price. Beer is £1 expensive than Preston and Greater Manchester, with Worthington Pint under £2 , but around £3 in Blackpool and Manchester city centre. Updated review on having a crunchy strip burger nearly £9, small portion like going to weight watchers, for the price again £3 more than Preston and Manchester of under £6.
