Botham's of Whitby ~ Pickering Shop & Tea Room — Restaurant in England

Stopped off in Pickering during a weeks holiday in Scarborough. Tucked away off the main street it was a perfect little find. The cafe is small, but there is a terraced garden at the rear which offers extra seating when the weather is favourable. We were welcomed by friendly and homely staff and when ordering our food nothing was too much trouble, even with picky teenagers. The food came very quickly and was really fresh. I had the Ploughman's lunch, which didn't disappoint and was very filling. Everyone's food was faultless and the atmosphere of the cafe was very relaxed and homely. On the way out we stopped and purchased a few pastries to take away for another day. If you are even in Pickering it is well worth getting off the main street and stopping for a cuppa and cake or anything else that takes your fancy...

Whilst in Whitby, you must try the Bothams porky Pie. We purchased a large one at the factory shop b4 returning home. I have to say it was absolutely delicious we should have purchased more. Whilst in the shop I did ask if the porky pie was an order on line option and was told yes. Upon returning home and visiting and enrolling on the Botham Web site to find that they only sell the porky pies on collection only to my complete shock ! I did contact Bothams on the phone and the lady in sales said that they used to sell them on line but no longer do. I’m sure these pies are world class and think Bothams should reconsider this. I only gave 4 stars due to this but the porky...

Splendidliohs! With bells on. Lovely staff who bent over backwards to accommodate. Very helpful and friendly. Good range of drinks - and cakes! Reasonably priced food. There's some outdoor seating out the back. I had a ploughman's platter with Cheddar and Wensleydale. A good, filling plateful, colourful and tasty, by 'eck! Gunpowder Green Tea, yum. Homemade apple pie was, oh my goodness, outstandingly good! Best part of the meal. If you visit here you must try it, soooo nommmm yummy flippin good. I can still taste it now. I'd travel to Pickering just to have this apple pie again. Am I recommending this establishment...? Errrrr,...
