Visited yesterday on a gorgeous, but very blustery day out in Whitby. Visited yesterday on a glorious, but very blustery day out in Whitby âïž Waited to be seated by the staff, very polite young man explained to me why we couldnât sit at the table in the sun, (social distancing rules and the table was set for 3 people, not 4 and there were 4 of us). Not a problem, got seated at a table for 4. Waited a while before a young lady came and took our drinks order on her tablet. Waited...and waited...and waited for the order to arrive. I thought they had left on a plane to go personally collect the coffee beans! đ In the meantime the young man who seated us, noticed we had been sat waiting some time, in between cleaning every table and chair, between customers leaving and seating others, he was clearly keeping an eye on all his customers and ensuring he communicated well with them when realising things werenât moving as quickly as they should. He came over and apologised for the fact we still were sat with no drinks some time later. He went over and spoke to the girl with the tablet, who appeared to shoot him down rather loudly, đ€šwhen he was trying to pass on the problem of such a delay. We waited and waited again, it appeared our drinks had gone to the neighbouring table, which again, the young man came over to us to explain and apologise for. The young lady who brought the drinks out, never said a word, the girl who took the order never apologised. It is not the end of the world, and I was nothing but polite to the young man who apologised time and time again. What I would like to say to the owners / employers of this young man is - youâve got a good one there. This young man knows how to deal with potential situations where the customer could well have just got up and walked off, or refused to pay after waiting so long, or whatever else arsey customers could have done in response to the below standard service. He was aware of his surroundings and the goings on within and was very keen to rectify them. Give him a pay rise, look after him, appreciate how seriously he takes his role, and the reputation of your business. I was well impressed, and think he deserves to know. Cheers young man đđŒ, good luck in your future roles, with your attitude and abilities, you will...

Firstly the waitress asked for our order before presenting us with a menu. Then after ordering we were asked to pay up front. Then after waiting approximately 45 minutes we asked why it was taking so long and we were told there was no record of our order even though we had paid up front ! After waiting another 10 minutes the order arrived. Then I asked a waitress for a drink and was told another waitress would take the order. After waiting 5 minutes no waitress was forthcoming so I took my empty glass to the toilet to fill with tap water. There was a queue at the only toilet available so I took my glass to the bar area and filled it up myself. In short avoid this poorly organised shambles of a place if you want a relaxing lunch. They are absolutely useless! It's a good job the food was of...
Read moreThis place used to be absolutely fantastic. The previous staff (Danny & Katie) were always warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming â they created such a positive atmosphere every time we visited. Sadly, I believe the ownership has changed, and with it, so has the entire experience. The new staff are unapproachable, rude, and completely lacking in enthusiasm. Thereâs no eye contact, no smiles, and conversations are reduced to one-word responses. It still carries the same name, but thatâs where the resemblance ends. Itâs really disappointing, especially because we have so many fond memories here. Unfortunately, we wonât be returning. Others might still enjoy it, but for us, the charm is gone â it was so much...
