If you Love Dracula, kitsch, camp & fun you MUST go here. Judging by the reviews we weren’t sure what to expect. We spent a good hour in here. There’s plenty to read & look at if you take your time. If you’re walking alone it is a bit spooky! There was also a human jump scare which was quite fun. I recommend you stay for the mini film at the end. If you’re going to the abbey already you’d be a real sucker not to come here. Not sure if it was the owner, but the Man at the door was so cool and nice. It was really nice talking to him and I hope that The Dracula Experience lives on to be as old as Dracula himself. We were there for ages & taking photos and no one ever rushed or bothered us. I’m from Chicago but my boyfriend and I drove from Essex for this and the Abbey. 100% worth it & will definitely go back someday. My only critique is we need more merch! Be sure to buy one of their t-shirts on the way out! If you’re looking for a terrifying haunted house, this isn’t it.. but if you Love Drac & old time fashioned fun then this is the place for you. Not many places like this exist anymore.. There’s a paid car park close by so that wasn’t a problem either.

There are a lot of reviews complaining about how cheesy the Dracula Experience is and I think that's unfortunate. After all, cheesy vampire movies are complete and utter joy to watch! If you disagree, then this attraction may not be your cup of tea. Is it terrifying? No. There was one jump-scare that got me a little, but I wasn't expecting a scream-fest. It doesn't need to be horrifying to be entertaining. Is it informative? Yes. It provides a good overview of the Dracula story and explicitly identifies how Whitby is incorporated into Bram Stoker's text. The video at the end obviously wasn't produced in Hollywood, but it's fun and I liked it - what else do you really need for £5? I also really appreciated that they have the actual cloak worn by Christopher Lee in the Hammer Dracula films. We got our tickets in advance online, but there was no wait when we entered. I'd still encourage purchasing early, though, as Whitby tourism really picks up during the summer. Overall, the Dracula Experience delivers exactly what it promises - a short bit of Dracula-themed fun. If that's what you're after, then this will not disappoint!

Visited 3rd October 2024 Definitely just a money grab there was no experience about it just a small house like building containing dressed up mannequins with video and sound effects. Not quite what I was expecting, felt like a complete waste of time with how quickly it was over and how little information there was. Not only this but due to how dark it was (for spooky effect I realise) you couldn't read any of the information given easily. The only good part was probably the little movie at the end of the experience that had some basic information. In addition to this there wasn't a souvenir or gift shop just a couple magnets as you entered the building that were being sold at every other little tourist gift shop. Really upsetting been as I was so excited before entering as a Dracula fan new to Whitby (as you can see in the first images) - Definitely room for improvement as Id love a full experience into the history of Dracula through the ages etc

Was looking forward to this when I read about Whitby but my advice now is ......... Don't waste your money, read the plaque in the front window or the front page of their website and you'll know more about Dracula than you'll ever get from the 'supposed' exhibition.... 'I use the term exhibition very loosely'. I'm sure the good reviws on here are from people who visited another attraction!

Firstly the the lighting is appalling! With the uneven floors it's downright dangerous in there, most of it's broken and virtually non existent, rather than being dimly lit and spooky. It's so bad you can't even see half of the exhibits, you'll need your phone or your phone to see most of them. In actual fact I wouldn't even bother most of them are so old they actually look like they've come from the Halloween section in a shop and I've seen far better and realistic in the local High Street shops. There are descriptor plaques, (well bits of poorly laminated paper), spurioulsy placed around explaining what some of them are, you'll definately need your phone for them!

There is an audio track playing as you go around but to be honest it's so poorly recorded and differing ones playing so close to each other that it's absolutely useless and the noise freaks you out more than anything in there.

We were warned as we went in that it was a unique experience and insight into Dracula and his connection with Whitby and really scary...... it was unique alright! Not for the right reasons, however, in fact the only memorable bit from it is to tell others not to bother, it's garbage. As for an insight etc. Like I said earlier, read the website or the plaque in the window and you'll learn more than from this experience.

It's described as 'a show with live actors', using animated scenes, electronic special effects and live actors...... we were told that there were live actors in on that day. We didn't see any special effects. We did see an animated scene but have seen better and scarier in a funfair. As for live actors..... there was one, dressed as a werewolf...... he seemed more intimidated by me when I stared back at him after he turned his head and tried to scare me.

As you go in there is a poster statung there is a free bonus video at the end. Not sure how it's a bonus? Don't bother, buy a book, (about 99p on Amazon), and you'll learn a lot more.

It's described on the website as, 'The Dracula Experience is a unique tour through the Dracula Story and its connection to Whitby. As you enter a dreadful fear will come upon you. The Count’s mysterious appearance and frightening warning will make you wonder if you should have come to Whitby… ' They should be prosecuted for mis-representation, and charging £5 for something that it's not!! Absolute Garbage!!!

Sort it out or shut it down, it's false advertising and you're clearly conning people. It's hardly surprising there's no feedback on here from the owners and when you leave the building it's via a rear entrance, well clear of the front of the building and were you can't be bothered walking back around to complain.... oh wait though there's a no refund policy. Posted all over the walls as you walk in, no surprises there!! Donate your money...

My wife (now ex-wife, as this visit was the straw that broke the camel's back) dragged me into this attraction last October, it is only now that I have summoned the courage to write this review. I have a serious vampire phobia ever since I was bitten by a Diphylla ecaudata on a field trip to Mexico in 2007. The entrance to this attraction instantly conveys the deep foreboding evil of Count Dracula within. We are promised state of the art special effects and live actors. I for one was not disappointed. The whole experience takes nearly 3 minutes to walk through, let me tell you, that seemed an eternity, The lack of any live actors is a clever twist which adds knife edge anticipation to the evil morbid atmosphere as you progress through Dracula's dark stagnant lair. The special effects were outstanding, I also have a phobia of masks (and clowns) and as we progressed, the inanimate masked characters enveloped me in a suffocating cloud. Dracula's polystyrene coffin was the terrifying highlight, adding at least a minute to the whole experience as I stood petrified in a cold sweat. Thankfully my wife, ex-wife, dragged me trembling and sweating profusely onward. I was overcome with relief as I glimpsed the shafts of light encroaching from the exit. My nightmare was over, at least that's what I thought. As my terrifying experience melted into past memory my wife, ex-wife, led me to the comfort of the many Whitby watering holes; The Endeavour, Station Inn, Black Horse, yet through my now tired eyes all I could see in a blurred haze is the wrecked Demeter, in each bar was a huge dog, but was it actually a dog...? My nightmare was far from over! Well recommended. Alton Towers could learn a lot from...
