Firstly the good points. Its slap bang in the middle of Whitby which is great, right by all the cafes, shops, amusements etc, there is however nowhere to park and we left the car in the co op car park for a short while to move the luggage. Very clean room and bathroom, clean beds and bed linen. Tea and coffee facilities and a jug of water etc. |The key is accessed from the restaurant below and the guy showed us to the room. The access to the rooms is down a narrow alley and up two flights of metal stairs and then a main door to the rooms, then up two more flights of stairs which was difficult with our luggage. We had a family room which was a double bed and a single, the room isn't a bad size but was very hot and airless as there is only a velux window in the ceiling which would have been too dangerous to open for my daughter who is autistic, the bed and a bedside cabinet were underneath so I couldn't open it as any child could climb and reach the window easily. The room was fairly dark and the main ceiling light only had one working bulb so I went into the restaurant and tried to ask them to replace the bulbs, here was the biggest problem as no one amongst the staff spoke any English at all so we spent all week with a small lamp on. There was a fan provided but it barely made a difference to the temperature. Also there was only two double sockets in the room which made it difficult as two were needed for the fan and the lamp. The shower kept filling up because it drained so slowly and we had to shower quickly so as to not flood the floor. I think the worse aspect of it was that the door to the room locked with a turning lock but the door was still able to be opened about half an inch which made me as a single female with two children feel unsafe, also the bottom door wasn't ever locked by anyone but myself even though it tells patrons to do so, this makes you vulnerable to anyone possibly coming through the alleyway and straight into the accommodation hallway. We had a nice break and Whitby is lovely but I wouldn't...
Read moreI didn’t want to give this any stars but it didn’t allow me to comment otherwise. Going home from Whitby tomorrow so ordered from this place tonight but disappointed doesn’t even cut it. Ordered lasagna mushroom Parmesan (came with chips) and garlic bread. Ordered on the food hub (said pick it up in 30 mins) walked a 2 minute walk to pick up. Got back, the lasagna was stone cold so put on a plate to heat in the microwave (as was in a silver tin) it just tasted of onion and barley any meat in it at all, opened the garlic bread honestly it was rock hard and dark brown. The chips had obviously been refried way to many times they were rock hard, no potato in them just hollow shells. Im not even sure what my meal was ( I had looked it up before I ordered) and thought it was a pasta dish so may of been my mistake but it was rather strange. Rang the four seasons to tell them, and wow just wow, first it was my fault because I was late, er, no I picked it up within the 30 mins as the clock ticks on the food hub site telling you when to go. Then they said that they would ring back when spoke to the manager, 3 calls later, the manager rang refused to refund it so we said we would literally walk round there and show them, I actually followed my husband round there as I knew it wasn’t going to go well. I went in a few minutes later and basically he said he had eaten some of the lasagna so he wasn’t going to do anything about it, how do you know if it’s cold if you don’t try it, then we were told the garlic bread was hard because it had gone cold and that the butter makes it go brown (😂) yes we know it’s cold that’s Also why we are here honestly please don’t waste your money in here it was absolutely freezing, unacceptable quality, and the service was quite unbelievable really. I wish this site would let me upload pics. We ended up getting 50% of the money back but left the food there. I was only glad I turned up as my husband was going to...
Read moreThis property is rooms located above a restaurant, with access via a narrow alleyway at the side of the shop, rear access past the rubbish bins and up an external metal staircase. Staff were using the area for smoking cigarettes. |Check in was problematic, the restaurant staff didn't have my details and had to make a couple of phone calls before unhappily taking me through the alleyway and pointing out a door and telling me my room was at the top of the stairs (room 2).|The room overlooks the street. No blinds, have to keep the curtains ( silver stars and moons, like from a childs bedroom) closed for privacy. The bed is shoved into a corner, under the windows and only accessible from one side. Immediately I noticed the bed was hastily made, with the duvet cover inside out and the two pillow cases did not fit. Unfortunately, white "drool" marks were visible on the pillow cases. The TV remote was missing. The bathroom shower tray had visible shoe marks and debris, there were crumbs on the nightstand. I immediately reported this to restaurant staff, who proceeded to argue amongst themselves as to who had made up ( or not) the room. I went out and upon my return the cover and pillow case were replaced, though still not fitting. The TV remote was still missing! and could not use the TV. |Traffic noise calmed around 11pm, only to be replaced by the upstairs tenants footsteps creaking through the ceiling and the external doors banging. |In conclusion:|Location is good, no parking, had to bring luggage from nearby 24 hour carport|Staff are incompetent |Cleanliness left a lot to be desired |Bedding is cheap, mismatched and ill-fitting. Towels were thin and scratchy. Invest in some better quality towels and bedding. |I suspect that the room had not been serviced properly between guests which is a disgrace. |Overall a...
