I left a review a couple of weeks ago below, (Henry Jones) and the owner responded by implying that I had reviewed the wrong place. To clarify, I did not— my review was accurate and intended for this business, i.e - Mr Coopers Coffee House down Church Street. This dismissal appears to be a futile way of disregarding a sincere review of a less-than-ideal experience.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with one of the staff members. Unlike the older gentleman who was warm and welcoming, this particular employee, the other man —whom I’ve seen working here before on a number of occasions —was quite the opposite. He appeared to be in his 40s/50s with dark brown hair, a beard, and glasses. Unfortunately, his manner was extremely rude and unwelcoming, which significantly impacted the experience.
Upon being seated, we experienced an unpleasant interaction with this staff member, who was terribly rude and sarcastic. We would have chosen to leave, but unfortunately, we had already placed and paid for our order.
I believe some additional training in customer service would be beneficial for him and the business.
That said, aside from this interaction, the establishment is nice, and the food is generally of a good standard. This situation underscores the importance of having attentive and...
Read moreMr Cooper's Coffee House is a breath of fresh air in Whitby, aiming to bring the classic British seaside experience firmly into the 21st century. It's a welcoming oasis of modern coffee culture, perfectly suited for the evolving tastes of today's staycationers.
The menu, while focused, benefits the cafe by ensuring consistent quality and service. You'll find all the usual coffee favorites, including alternative milks, alongside a good selection of bagels and baked goods perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
A standout for me was the eggs – perfectly light and creamy, with generous portion sizes that will satisfy most appetites. The accompanying fruity pea shoot side salad (with strawberries, blueberries, and pomegranate) was a delightful and unexpected touch. Bravo!
While I appreciate the venture into niche blends, and thoroughly enjoyed the filter coffee on offer, a more approachable, basic blend for the average customer might broaden its appeal and encourage repeat visits as Whitby's palate adjusts to these new horizons.
Mr Cooper's offers great value for money. I had a very pleasant experience and will certainly...
Read moreI recently visited Mr Coopers Coffee Shop with a group of friends, and while the coffee was genuinely excellent and arrived promptly, our overall experience was marred by how the staff handled what should have been a straightforward situation. Four of us initially sat in the window area, ordered drinks, and enjoyed the start of our visit. The trouble began when two more friends joined us, and we tried to order two additional drinks and add a couple of chairs.
Instead of accommodating us or offering a reasonable solution, staff members approached with an unexpectedly abrupt manner, stating that the space was only for four people and that the two newcomers would have to stand outside in the rain if they wanted their drinks. While I acknowledge that fitting six people in the window might have been a bit tight, we were comfortable with it. Unfortunately, the dismissive tone and attitude of the staff left a sour impression.
If you’re looking for great coffee, Mr Coopers delivers—but if you value warm, understanding service, consider ordering to go and giving the staff...
