Castle Lodge Buttery — Restaurant in England

After walking around Ludlow seeing the ridiculous prices places want for something simple like a cheeseburger and chips averaging £17 Eventually we stopped at the castle lodge buttery Prices were reasonable and given that after I finished my meal I could hardly move, it was very fresh, very hot, and it was the right amount. The latte we had was very good One thing I never understand with people is when you have 2 choices regular @ £3.20 or large @ £3.50 it should never be the regular for the sake of 30p just go large. But hey each to thier own. Only 1 gripe would be that the person serving the food to the table should ask if you require anything else. i.e. sauces, different knife for meat perhaps, Not that it bothered me I can get a bottle of sauce from the side but could annoy others, you know how some people are proper fussy. Nice place but word of warning to customers using their toilets. You open the door and you go down a narrow step straight away unfortunately maybe due too wearing my mask I didnt see it went straight down on my ankle and have been in pain since not able to walk around Ludlow now. My husband informed the staff but all they said was that I was the first one for that to happened too ...it happened to me health and safety issue should sort that out make a wider step....there was a sign on the door but I truley didnt see it just opened the door and went down...

Came for a nice afternoon lunch, ended up with half portioned food and artificial tasting ice cream. Some of the menu items listed coleslaw — this was not provided. On asking about this, the staff gave us funny looks and back and forth about this.

In the end they checked the menu and provided the coleslaw. Apart from that, service was polite and quick.

Food was overpriced for the quality — a bit bland, though there was plenty of ketchup, mayo, HP sauce etc.

Ice cream was watered down and tasted “chemically”. Seems more like a tourist trap — I would...
