Very old traditional pub, many original features are now visible since the refurbishment. Excellent welcome & service. First 3 ales very good 4th had turned, informed bar manager who tasted it and agreed, and took it off immediately (tried new barrel - superb). Returned for evening meal, amazing service, food uncomplicated but excellent, plentiful & good value (informed all locally sourced produce). We shall return on our next visit to Ludlow. Also every Tuesday evening a traditional jazz group play, great fun and well received by all.

With such a fantastic location (set back from one of the walkways to the market square, just a couple of minutes from the castle) and an amazing old building, the Rose and Crown probably wouldn't have to do much to be popular with visitors like me, but it really excelled. We visited for lunch and had 3 classic pub meals (burger, scampi, whitebait) that were delicious and served quickly by a very friendly team. Very nicely kept ale (Joule's brewery) too. 10/10 and definitely recommended!

We stopped in for a quick drink and a spot of lunch. The menu you in the alleyway mentioned a selection of loaded fries but only one type was available at the time. We went with the brisket loaded fries with cheese, a good portion size and quick service. Would highly recommend. I suspect it can get busy in there, and this isn't helped by a party of two deciding to sit on a table suited for six. Would definitely go back again.

Booked an over-night stay in Ludlow so browsed some reviews of restaurants in the area, this one stood out straight away for me.Tucked away in Church Street, which is just off the High Street, the pub is what I would discribe as a 'proper' Pub, i.e it's not owned by some chain with the usual menu of burgers etc, but a pub with traditional looking interior and a chalk board displaying that days fayre and a good selection of drinks. I opted for deep fried Brie, which was excellent, two generous portions, both well cooked with a tasty salad and cranberry sauce. My partner had the Lasagne, again, delicious, good portion, piping hot served with salad and garlic bread. The night we were there (a Thursday) it was bustiling with activity, as it was dominoes night! Nice atmosphere and the owners were very friendly, always nice to get a "thank you" and "goodbye" when you leave,a simple yet small token of appreciation that you...

Visited this pub for food in October for a roast lunch with our 3 young children. Our next visit to Ludlow, we decided to drop by again, unfortunately the food was not being served when we arrived, so we had a drink and returned later on that afternoon, as we had to wait for a taxi. This is undoubtedly a nice pub, but would not visit again, in the grounds of attitude towards children. Sometimes young children do not always conform, unfortunately the owners of this establishment have forgot what it was like to be a child or indeed raise one. It's ashame of the whole attitude towards families in general is completely the opposite of Spain/ France / Italy. Nothing like the judgmental shake of the head at a struggling parent to show you how unwelcome you are!! Although I'm sure the sound of the money in the til still went...

Brilliant place, went in today with my mum for some lunch. Would class this place this place as a hidden gem. I am gluten free and normally find it difficult to find anywhere decent to eat - the rose where brilliant and offered a gluten free sandwich option which is extremely rare find. The meals where fantastic and extremely tasty. All the staff were polite and very helpful. I am not normally one to post reviews, but on this occasion it had to be done. The atmosphere in there is really friendly and inviting, it really made our day out so much more enjoyable. So happy we chose to go here and will be visiting again - thank you all at the rose for the lovely meal and for thinking about the ones that are gluten free, it really does make a massive...
