This was our first time coming to this resturant. First impressions mean ALOT. I do want to stress everyone else in the resturant seemed to be having a lovely time so potentially our experience was isolated. Firstly, our booked table wasn't available. So we had to awkwardly sit under some stairs in the direct line of the waiting staff. Then when we got our drinks the glass had lipstick on it. We ordered some starters with mains to follow. We received our first 2 starters and then waited 40minutes for prawn crackers after I had to ask the male waiter if they were coming. After we'd eaten the prawn crackers we were asked if we were ready for our mains. This took us all aback as we'd already been in there for 1 and a half hours and this point and were STARVING. How long would we have been waiting if I hadn't of asked on the prawn crackers? The male waiting staff who served us was cold, distant, and overall not welcoming. We didn't feel cared for and was wondering whether he just didn't like us which was the reason for us recieving such bad service. I must stress however that the quality of the food was VERY food, which is why I've left it 5 stars for food. I must also stress that the Manager came across as a lovely and attentive lady once it seemed she'd cottoned on to what was happening. As I said before, everyone else in the restaurant seemed looked after, cared for, and generally happy. Only thing was that we didn't. All of this could have been so much easily avoided if the waiter showed us care and attentiveness that every other table seemed to have gotten. I think we just fell through the cracks. Considering my dad drove hours to get to nantwich and we were looking forward to a lovely evening out to catch up (him specifically asking to go to a Chinese resturant), we left feeling deflated. I wouldn't tell people to go, I wouldn't tell people not to go. I think people need to go and make up their own mind. All I can do is leave a honest review and...
Read moreI honestly don't understand all the positive reviews.
The food was all very very bland and uninspiring, especially given the cost!
I'd much rather pop across the road to the Takeaway and get much better quailty for half the cost.
Yes, I realise, by 'sitting-in' there are increased overheads from the likes of Staff, Heating, Lighting and equipment etc, but NO, it not acceptable.
The Spicy Platter sharer starter was particulary bad. The photo doesn't do the taste justice. No mention of the Seafood in the ingredients and again overcooked, rubbery items. Only positive was the Seaweed, which of course isn't actually Seaweed.
⅔ of our initial Main choices weren't available and then to add insult, we were informed that the Scallops, at last minute, were "not completely available" and "would we like to try something else". The scallops themselves were tiny, overcooked and tasteless (and we've had Scallops in many fine dining eateries).
Furthermore, not once were we asked if we wanted anymore drinks, probably because the "Irish Front-of-House", as described in other reviews, seemed more interested in chatting on the phone and mooching over the apparent regulars.
I will definitely not be returning, but sometimes it proves wrong to be curious and follow other people's...
Read moreWhere do I start? Chopsticks quite simply is the finest Chinese restaurant in Cheshire. We dropped by on the off chance they could accommodate us.
The refreshingly professional Irish front of house lady gave us the warmest of welcomes. She was genuinely interested in our comfort and ran a very tight ship. The rest of the staff were equally diligent and friendly. They couldn't have helped more, despite shortages due to Covid.
For food, we went for a set menu, compromising of chicken satay, seaweed, calamari, satay chicken, hoisin duck, sweet and sour chicken, crispy shredded beef and king prawns (to name a few). We finished with coffee.
From start to finish, the service and food served was impeccable. The portions and quality were outstanding. We'll be...
