Wasn’t going to write a review but read someone else’s about the owner/worker being discriminatory and rude, and thought I should write one because we got the same attitude. Tried to grab a coffee today… was stopped at door very rudely and told “your double buggy won’t fit in here, there’s no room”. We have the smallest double stroller that fits through any door (we’ve been all over London (including historic buildings) the last few days and it’s fit through every single door with room, so that wasn’t the issue- she specifically said the store was too small and there was no room for the buggy). The issue, the store was 100% empty and there was 0 customers even outside- so no in other words there were no other customers at all; There was plenty of room for us to step in a grab a coffee. Even so, she could have just politely (or even just not rudely), said “the store is super tight, do you mind keeping the buggy outside?” or even asked us if we were planning or ordering to go or for there…we were just planning on grabbing a coffee to go btw- again there was 0 other people there. It was very clear we were not welcome there so we left. We are a gay interracial couple— I don’t know if she had an issue with either part of that, or is just generally just a rude person. But 100% wanted to give the heads up, there’s tons of other coffee shops in the are with...
Read moreThe coffee here is very good. It's £2.70 for a flat white, but they deliver, so if you're in the area and you want a coffee, go here.
I really want to give this place 3.5 stars. Yes, the coffee is top notch but there are a few things that let it down.
Firstly, the staff are slightly ponderous in their movements, there doesn't seem to be much communication between them and this didn't really fill me with confidence. It's okay if you have all day, but I had a train to catch and wasn't particularly reassured that I was any kind of priority, especially when I asked for a takeaway coffee and the guy told me to take a seat!
Secondly, you can see a rather stark and brightly lit kitchen, which detracts from the experience and clashes from the more thoughtfully decorated coffee shop. When you're charging almost 3 pounds for coffee beans, milk and hot water, this stuff matters - especially because the coffee shop is based in quite a picturesque courtyard.
If they could make the service and general ambience as good as the coffee, they'd be on...
Read moreGreat coffee, but felt that it is missing out on a few opportunities. Firstly, on a Sunday morning, they had no eggs (couldn’t offer poached or scrambled) only bagels with bacon and egg mayonnaise (which was different and nice). Could do with signs being out on the pavement as it is very easy to walk by. Plastic flowers in hanging baskets are just not trying hard enough. Windows needed a good clean as did the paved area outside where we had coffee. Also felt sugar in paper sachets was more “greasy spoon” than premium coffee shop - how about sugar cubes? Thought that the junior staff could have been more friendly including checking that our food and coffee were ok - which it was, but you should ask! You also missed out on another round of coffees if you’d asked. We did and went elsewhere. It is the detail that makes a difference and there must be so much more commercial potential if there was more focus. Not having eggs is pretty poor. These could have been picked up at a...
