Arrive late in the morning, almost noon, and they served a full English breakfast, though they were on the lunch time menu. Homey, welcoming, relaxed. The server greeted almost everyone by name. Customers were postal workers, grandfather types, a mom with a couple of children, lots of grey hair. My introduction to English hospitality, my first breakfast in an English restaurant. And sticky toffee pudding was on the menu, so I had that with custard and a coffee. Set for the day. Oh! My bank notes were old issue, but she took them anyway, and directed me to Barkley's down the street to exchange the rest. A good first day...

It's a good sign when the hash brown is not placed in the liquid of the tomatoes or beans. Also nice to have my toast buttered before arrival. Bacon was good, egg perfect, better than usual tomatoes, chips nice and crisp on the outside - soft in the middle - just right. Nice coffee too.
