Firstly, it's important to note that there are 2 Northern Edge Coffee houses, a small one adjacent to the town hall and the mother ship on Silver Street. I'm happy to report that I can review both in one hit. I'd seen some good reviews and wanted to see if their coffee really was that good, so we tootled over to Berwick and parked at B&M. On walking down to Silver Street, we passed the smaller satellite shop so decided to drop in for a to-go order. The baristas were knowledgeable and chatty and the atmosphere was good. They had a selection of cakes and breakfast sandwiches including a veggie option, and some handsome looking sausage rolls. I ordered a long black and my husband had a latte. The latte was as it should be, and the long black was well made. We continued on to the mother ship. On entering, we were warmly greated by the barista and he chatted as he took our order, and directed us upstairs to a large yet cosy seating area rustic in design. We had more of the same and a veggie sausage sandwich and a bacon and sausage. The food was freshly cooked and the soft rolls were generously filled. I can definitely recommend the breakfast rolls. Again, our coffees very well made with freshly roasted beans done on site. I think I've finally found my go to Northumbrian...

Great company and really nice set up, so glad it's dog friendly (3 dogs max). The coffee is obviously the biggest concern for them and the options and blends are incredible as you'd expect. There are DeCaf options which was nice, got a bit of flack for asking for a syrup in one of the lattes that they just don't do, I get it as coffee purists but some folk just like it that way and it's a shame there wasn't that option. On our visit there was just one slice of vegan cake left, nothing else on the menu was Vegan which was a shame so we shared (and it was lovely Orange Jaffa cake), we bought crisps too, but they turned out to be non-vegan unfortunately. Our group had flatbreads which they said where fine (praise indeed) - their lattes weren't the warmest and went cold really quickly unfortunately. An option for hot milk with my Americano might've helped with it splitting, but I find with Decaf it's a 50/50 game and especially with artisan Roasts, I'm used to it tbh.

Summary Great Coffee, Dog Friendly, could do with a few more...

Modern and tasteful local coffee shop located just off the beaten track in Berwick. Fits in well as a stop off on the way back from a walk around the walls.

Not a coffee drinker myself but my companion was and said it was excellent. I had a hot chocolate which was lovely. We also tried some homemade quiche (warm of course) which was delicious. Even managed to get a couple of sausages for the dogs to share.

Good choice of breakfast menu items, snacks, sweet treats (brownies looked really good) and light bites so perfect for all throughout the day.

There is comfortable seating indoors with immaculate bathrooms. Also has seating outdoors overlooking a quiet courtyard if you have dogs with you.

They have just put up prices slightly to deal with the cost of living crisis but have taken the time to advise their customers with a written explanation & will be reducing prices once things return to normal.

Will definitely go back & will update with picture's & try more...

It's one of the coolest coffee shops I've ever been in. Love how you can see where they actually make their own coffee. The overall look of the place is great. Quirky features. Comfortable chairs. All the history and character of the building are still intact. It's good when people who use a space respect its history. The coffee itself was very nice. It was smooth and fragrant. Not bitter at all. I always order my coffee black, so if it's not good, it's easy to tell. This was definitely some top quality stuff. The chocolate brownie I had was lovely, too. Perfectly cooked with a soft gooey centre. If I lived in Berwick, this would be my regular. Unfortunately, I don't, but when I'm down at my caravan, this will be where I go.

I popped into this Coffee Shop while looking round Berwick for the day. Tucked away down a side street, it was a lot quieter than cafés in the town centre. We got cold drinks and a couple of sweet treats, all of which were reasonably priced. I also bought a holiday gift for family of a bag of Northern Edge’s own coffee. It was great to be able to buy local produce and to see where the beans were actually roasted! We sat on one of the outdoor benches, which was a lovely warm spot during the late afternoon sun. I’d definitely recommend if you’re after an unpretentious coffee fix in a relaxed atmosphere.

Came to Berwick just to come here. Bought some of their coffee from a shop while on holiday. Always like to seek out a local coffee roasters. Not the most complex of coffees but a lovely drink. Had lattes and sandwiches while we visited. I agree with other reviews, not the biggest sandwiches. However, they were super tasty and obviously use really good ingredients. I would happily buy the food again. Left with 2 bags of coffee as well.
