Absolutely vile ,a ball of undercooked potato swimming in oil. With undercooked batter covering some type of once edible food. I fell that you require a detailed answer to my comment of oily potato, having had years of experience working in the fast food industry, your cooking oil had degraded through use so as to only reach a lower heat than what's required to fry.as a result of this happening the chips you are trying to fry are being broiled instead, this results in your chips soaking up the oil and not sealing the out side. My friend and I visited the place over a week ago. None of us had ever been in this place before. Gill's looked good outside and inside (only a bit of sauce on one table), but it is a modern-looking place with a nice design. I don't understand such an unwelcoming customer service standard. I added "sitting in" after ordering. I was given no receipt. I said, "Thank you", and I received silence. They should have explained how the ordering process works there. We paid separately. I saw how my friend also expected a receipt, and the employee kept it—no tracking numbers were given. We sat at the clean and empty table (a lot of them were empty). Someone shouted my order, so I collected it and returned to the table. Then, somebody shouted my friend's order. He took it, and while he walked towards me, someone else shouted: "It costs extra to eat in". It looked like their idea was not to offer food to eat inside—such an awkward standard of providing service to new customers. I ate my burger outside- it was ok. Terrible Experience – Unhygienic Food and Unfair Treatment

I ordered a pizza from Gills Fry Fry Seaham, and to my shock, it came with a hair baked into the cheese. The pizza was completely untouched — not a single slice was eaten — and I returned it immediately.

Despite this serious hygiene issue, the staff only offered me £4.99 in refund for a pizza I paid £11.99 for. When I politely expressed that this was unfair, the staff became upset. I was asked to leave the premises and wait outside, still without a proper refund. I waited over 20 minutes, but no one came out to speak to me.

When I returned to follow up, I again asked to speak to the manager but was told to leave — again without a refund. I am still waiting for my money back and may have to go through Trading Standards if the mobile number I was given by the police doesn’t help resolve the issue.

My advice: AVOID this place. Not only was the food prepared in an unsanitary manner, but the staff were also unhelpful, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Food safety and customer service are clearly not a...
