Went for dinner last night 05/07/2024 to "Goodfellows at 7B". We'd previously been more than 2 years ago to its previous premises in the town centre. It's now the other side of the cathedral up the road from The Fountain Inn in St Thomas Street. Despite being a Friday it wasn't full by a long chalk but this venue's quite abit larger than before. The food remains excellent and the service is good but we did think, once we'd ordered, all the courses came too quickly and we weren't allowed to relax, enjoy the wine and chat. It all felt alittle rushed. The kitchen's open to the ground floor dining room - we've seen this before at other restaurants and sometimes it works but unsure if this was the case here. We appreciate why because the patron/chef Adam Fellows holds cooking demos and it's a nice place to do so. Read moreA very intimate restaurant just a few steps away from the cathedral. The kitchen is visible from the restaurant itself, which makes for interesting viewing as the meal progresses. The front of house team are very knowledgeable about the food and wine and happy to recommend. We opted for the fish options and were not disappointed with one bite. Excellent flavours and ingredients, presented with flair but not pretentious. The selection of desserts were also different and we ended our meal with a recommended dessert wine.
