The Steam Bar at the Great Western Hotel in Newquay is a lovely spot for a meal, especially if you're looking to enjoy stunning views of the coastline. One of the standout features of this venue is its spacious seating area, which is perfect for accommodating large groups, making it an excellent choice for families or gatherings.

During my visit, I was pleased to find that the food was served promptly, allowing us to enjoy a seamless breakfast experience. The menu offers a decent variety, and the dishes we ordered were satisfying and well-prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that our orders were taken efficiently and that we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

While the overall experience was enjoyable, the coffee left a bit to be desired compared to some of the nearby cafés. It didn’t quite have the depth of flavor or richness that one might expect, especially in a place renowned for its beverage offerings. Nonetheless, the picturesque views of the ocean make up for it; there’s nothing quite like sipping your morning brew while looking out at the stunning seaside.

Overall, the Steam Bar is a solid choice for breakfast, particularly if you're in the mood for a leisurely meal with great views. The combination of timely service, a spacious atmosphere, and polite staff makes it a worthwhile stop...

stunning beer garden with an incredible view. 6-6.50ish for a pint - rough, but where isn’t these days. unfortunately experience was a bit sour due to a bit of hostile customer service. I’m 22 and my boyfriend is 21 so we’re very used to providing ID at pubs, and we’ve also both been bartenders for a few years so understand what it’s like when people get annoyed about getting IDed - but one of the staff seemed annoyed at us for merely asking for a pint. we very happily handed our ID over for checking and even that wasn’t enough to make her happy. treated us like a nuisance for simply wanting to sit and have a pint in the sun whilst looking young. I almost felt like I should’ve apologised for stepping foot in the place with how she spoke to me. thought maybe she was having a bad day but she served an older gentleman after me with a huge smile and great customer service. other staff interactions were really pleasant. glasses were sparkly clean. outside was tidy and spacious. recommend this place if you clearly look over 35, and fancy a pint...

Really good food with a wonderful view and very reasonable prices

I was pleasantly surprised by this Newquay hotel. The view l knew about but the quality of the food?

My only knowledge of the place was that the coffee was very bitter

This is not change the world dining, it is good food at a good price

We were a four person party celebrating a 91st birthday

It was lunch so we opted not to have starters

One Cajun chicken "burger"was a really juicy chicken breast in a very tasty bun, excellent

One fish and chips, sounds simple but so many places can't do it right - the recipient ran the best chippy in Newquay for many years - he gave it the thumbs up so no better recommendation

One lasagne for the birthday girl - she has eaten literally all over the world and enjoyed it so much she took the leftovers home to have for lunch

My own braised brisket with onion gravy was brilliant. The mountain of mash proved too much and the meat was melt in the mouth with wonderful onion gravy

Recommended, l will certainly be back...

I had a lovely cooked breakfast here today, with a lovely view. £11.50 the breakfast wasn't huge but I do have to say that the egg which is specifically local and fresh changed the taste so much that it was definitely worth the cost. It was golden yolky and you could taste the rich freshness as it oozed out all over my plate. I dipped my bacon and sausage into it before piling it with my toast!!! Wooooow great breakfast xx well done, really lovely xx the only thing that could of improved it would be sourdough toasted bread but it was lovely x thankyou. The staff were very polite, clean, and just had a lovely demeanor, thankyou x

Lovely beer garden views and lovely drinks, only place I’ve found in Newquay that does mena dhu on tap and it’s amazing. Dropped a star due to glasses and food left on tables outside, we wanted to sit on a bench with a nice view but it had a high chair tray full of food on it, was still there when we we’re finishing our drinks. I can understand this in busy times but there was no wait at the bar. Other than that, lovely place for a drink, will definitely return.
