I visited halcyon kitchen today 3/3/2020 for lunch with family , we was seated On table 3 and placed a drinks order , before ordering food , with Penny. My family requested a fresh orange juice and an English breakfast tea , I asked for a cup of boiled water as I normally do , as I have/carry my own white tea teabags with me , I proceeded to show Penny the sealed and wrapped teabag, Penny informed me that this was not allowed ..... I was very surprised and queried this with Penny, as I have visited Halcyon kitchen many many times for breakfast ,lunches and evening meals ,, on all previous occasions when I had requested a cup of boiling water for my teabag “dragonfly swirling mist organic white tea “ it had never been a problem . I have never been questioned or refused as I had by Penny. Penny then proceeded to tell me that to use my own teabag would be like bringing my own food onto the premises !!! I was at this point aghast and perplexed not to mention frustrated ,,, i was also told by Penny , that having spoken with the other staff that was working today she felt that it was unlikely that I had ever previously been served a cup of hot water by servers at halcyon kitchen for my teabag .... So in effect I was being called a liar!!!
I am deeply annoyed and upset to have had my integrity challenged , which was witnessed by my family with incredulity .
I work in customer services and this is not good customer practice , not to mention that on sat 1/2/2020 we had spent considerable amount of money and bought several of your lovely pizza’s after an evening out with friends ! Speaking with my family regarding the absurdity of the “boiled water “ situation I requested to speak with the manager , i was informed by penny that he was not available. I have never ever had cause to complain before ,however I feel strongly that I cannot let the attitude from your staff server Penny go unmentioned today , although she was not rude , Penny undoubtably had attitude and I felt challenged by her confrontational manner. Surely a cup of boiled water was not an unreasonable request , given the amount of money spent and customer loyalty that myself , family and friends have shown to halcyon kitchen . When penny asked me if I would like another drink option I did ask for a cup of boiled water please , when it was brought to me I said that I would be able to dip my teabag in it and was told by Penny “No “ that was not possible and “did I still want the boiled water “? At this point the cup of boiled water was taken away 🤷🏼♀️. I am very disappointed by the whole episode of today’s visit with halcyon kitchen, I doubt if a more ludicrous or ridiculous comedy sketch could have been written for a Monty Python episode !!

Read moreNot a great evening. V poor service. A table of 3 ,we arrived at 7.30pm on a Friday. Waited an hour for starter, another 50 minutes for main, then 40 minutes for dessert. Three different waitresses served our table. Conflicting information given re menu, orders had to be changed and checked several times. Twice duplicate cutlery was brought. No apology or feedback given about delay. When we asked when food would arrive waitress shrugged shoulders and indicated the large number of people eating that night. A service charge was added which we did not pay. Food was fine when it did arrive, though vegetarian option uninspired. Spoke to manager on way out, along with a table of 4 who were equally disgruntled. He apologised and said if we sent an email he would compensate with free pizza. It appeared that bookings should have been staggered more throughout the evening in order for staff to cope. Priority was given to large parties who has pre-ordered. We had offered to pre-order when we checked our booking 2 days before at which point we were told our table had been, erroneously, cancelled! Read moreHave started going here for the last 6 months for breakfast and evening meals and both have been very good and a good standard of quality ingredients used for both! The front of house team and our usual waitress are proficent friendly and very helpfull but today all that previous great service just went out the window. There was a a different person on front of house who we gave our order too once we were seated then gave instructions etc on how you want your eggs coffee etc done then that was it then waited for Front of house lady took brought our breakfast to us but it wasnt what i ordered so sent it bk to be rectified it came back still not rectified then i asked our usual waitress to remove the eggs please as i was simply ignored by the lady who took my order and the chef who decided to give me what he wanted to cook not the paying customer By the time i got round to eating my breakfast it was cold which just tipped it so will never go bk again as the front of house were just ignorant and somewhat...
